It will be easy to find a deal on a used Equinox, but there's a reason for that.

My mechanic has one and not so fondly refers to it as a POS.

One of the wifes friends has one as a company car.....hers has been in the shop so many times that they dont trust is on longer road trips. No thank you, sometimes something is cheap for a very good reason.

FWIW, I had a 2005 Equinox AWD and only had minor problems with it. I moved to a 2009 Ford Escape V6 which is the worst SUV I ever had. Consumer Reports rates it as much worse than averge and they are right on. The same problems continued into the 2010 year . Had friends with the same year and although mine was the worst, all had more problems than they should have- transmission, suspension and crazy things like having all the windows replaced 3 times because of scratching as well as new seat covers because the original ones stained for no reason.

Moved to a 2012 Santa FE  ( V6 AWD ) because everyone who owned one I talked to loved theirs. So far, so good.

This generation of Equinox is quickly rising to the top of my worst vehicle ever list. We are now seeing a lot of these come in on trade and every single one has been a complete disaster once in the shop. In the last month we gave 2 people refunds because the used Equinoxes they bought just would not stop falling apart.

While admittedly this car of the Old GM is a total POS, we have been assured that the stellar, new and improved products of the New GM (TM) are the finest cars we have ever made, so rush down and get them before they are sold out!
