Top gear just tested the C7 vs the new Cayman GTS on this weeks episode.....

I'm a Corvette Slappy and posting in the Corvette thread. Can you guess? Which car did they prefer?  :)

Hint: the C7 Stingray went around the Top Gear track 2 seconds faster than the Cayman GTS and even faster that the Carerra GT  ;)

where did ya watch that, vman?

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Their explanation of why you won't see the Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren on the track together anytime soon jives with Chris Harris' position.

Ferrari can be a bag of :censor: sometimes.

Great results but from my perspective a waste if the car can't be driven to its abilities. Most of us don't buy performance cars to take to the track. I have WAY more fun driving the S2000 around than my TT-RS.

I'm still surprised at just how much fun my Wee Red Roadster is.  I thought after a summer or two I'd be bored with the meager power level and small tires.  Nope - it's just grins and more grins.  I've really come to love having a superbly balanced chassis that I can drive much closer to it's limit without fearing prison time.

Yup just never take it to the track.

Brz is a blast to drive around town,  hit the track and immediately you crave more power despite the awesome chassis.

BTW, they liked many of the subjective elements of the C7 over the GTS as well:

So a C7 needs another 120hp to just beat a Cayman? I'm confused, is that an accomplishment or a failure?

Or why is the Porsche $30-40K more and slower than the Vette??
Lighten up Francis.....

Refinement and you can also drive one 12 months a year.

Great review - bummer how the video basically showed us the guy riding in the car.  We needed a lot more exterior-on-the-move shots.

Oh baby. Hoping to see them come out of the woodwork this summer!

Guy a couple blocks from me is taking delivery of a Z-06/Z-07 sometime in the next few months.  I'm going to lose my mind seeing it around - I LOVE the C7.

I agree, I love the Z-06.  Damn kids...

That's not impressive, really.  The Z06 only makes about 60 HP less...but weighs 1000 lbs less.

I DID she Vipers walking the new Z06 though!   :o

I'll have to look for the links. It was a get together of a couple of forums...for bragging rights maybe?  Track was a bit cold, hence the weaker 60 foot times.

11.65 @ 131.04 mph (2.16 60′) – Viper TA #1
11.68 @ 131.27 mph (2.18 60′) – Viper TA #2
11.76 @ 127.91 mph (2.18 60′) – C6 ZR1
11.77 @ 127.05 mph (2.06 60′) – C7 Z06 #1
11.87 @ 127.95 mph (2.38 60′) – C7 Z06 #2
12.04 @ 134.65 mph (2.37 60′) – Viper SRT
12.11 @ 126.30 mph (2.17 60′) – Challenger Hellcat

EDIT:  Here's is the first video I saw of the Z06 getting CRUSHED.  The Viper runs away and hides from the C7 Z06, from a roll, from a stop...7 times total.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSd1aZHqMTg#t=40

I have mentioned earlier that the new Z06 has TOO much downforce and is actually a bit slower in a straight line than the old Z06...

Here is a stock Hellcat on slicks running 10's:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/videos/a25020/challenger-hellcat-does-10s-on-drag-radials-ready-for-p85d-rematch/

Any car benefits from slicks.  In the Supra, I could run 10.80s or so....but with slicks, 10.30s.....
