Doesn't need to be a 2JZ....But it needs an I6

Agreed.  Modern engine technology is giving a lot more oomph from similar displacements.

Being a Nissan guy, you compare the intake/exhaust port sizes on the cylinders heads of a VG30DETT (90-96 300ZX Twin Turbo), VQ35DE/VQ35HR (350Z), VQ37VHR (370Z) and the VR38DETT (GTR) and you'll see the difference.

Heck, the VR38DETT with the same turbos on it as the big 5.4L V8 in the Ford GT produces more power because it can breathe better than the 5.4L V8.

A modern day I6 Turbo with all these improvements could be a beast of an engine.  Of course, for packaging reasons, V6 is probably what they will do.

Oh, that would not be cool.  Put the turbo 4 in the FT86/BRZ/FRS and put a turbo 6 in this thing.

That could be interesting.  There's similar rumours of the next gen GTR getting the VR38DETT + some performance hybrid thing.  "We shall see..."

That's far different IMO. The GTR engine is already a beast..Imagine another couple hundred HP from hybrid power?

Been looking at this on and off all day, has to be one of the most outrageous/amazing/compelling new designs I've seen in a long while. Maybe I'm a sucker but I'll remain hopeful.

I love that it's svelte and has tight skin over its bones rather than the bloated, overinflated look of almost everything else.

 :iagree:

Very innovative.  Don't know dimensions, but in a world of "always bigger" it looks smaller than your typical super-car.  I see LFA influence in the profile, and see Toyota beginning a new overall direction with respect to performance cars.  Even the FR-S has some of this "slope up from the bumper" look to it.  I like it.  A lot.
