^^^
got an e-mail from Niner about it today.   I like it too.
they're billing it as an adventure bike.   backpacking do it all...
seems like they're looking at taking a page out of Salsa's adventure book.

I wonder how this would go as a gravel race bike.    I've read reviews that the RLT is serious stiff.
The steel might be the way to go for taking the edge off?

I'd love to add two more bikes to my collection...

a) cross bike which would double as a road bike and a bit of a do-it-all.

b) a hardtail mountain bike, but something of a forever bike.

enter the following:

$4000 USD  Ti frame with a mix of SLX/XT
I've been debating a carbon or Ti frame and think Ti would be a perfect "forever" frame.  Something classic.
It's a great package at $4000.   I've worked some number and could get the frame and build it, however MY parts selection would escalate the price to around $6,000

full carbon cross bike from Niner.   $3000
I can get the same build (Shimano 105) with a non-carbon frame for $1000 less which would be the more reasonable thing to do:

Lately I've Really been trying to talk myself into getting a real road bike.  The decision would be much easier though if the season lasted longer then say 5 months!

^^^ Do it. You won't regret it. You'll ride further and faster in those five months. And with luck and proper gear you can stretch that to 8 months quite easily.

Do it. You could try and find a new-ish second hand bike, if that makes it easier.

After a weekend with the Devinci Spartan......I really want an AM/Enduro trail bike NOW.  :bounce:

One has been already planned for later this year but man, I haven't had a proper full-suspension trail bike since 2013 (have an old hardtail and full DH bike, opposite ends of the spectrum) and certainly never such a capable all-rounder- amazing how fast technology progresses in 3 years. Totally made me enjoy riding the local trails much more.......but it will have to wait a few more months......

Must....maintain......financial prudence......

Have you taken it for a real ride yet? Do you guys have classic bike rides over there? I've read about a few over here and they sound like a lot of fun.

No, I haven't yet. I bought the bike for coffee rides etc. in and around the city, so I'm not sure if I ever will. I'm not aware of any classic bike runs around here, even though there probably are some.

So I picked up a State Bicycle Black Label, fixed gear, matte red, and I really like it so far. Sure the fixed gear really limits you, it came with 48/16 (or 3:1) so I re-geared it way down to a spinning 48/22 (2.18:1) and have a 20T cog (2.4:1) to swap on after I get used to it/stronger, but the direct-drive feeling is really different and I like it.

However, I think I'd really like one of these  :-* : No22 little wing Titanium
