New Ford GT was ripping around the track today.   Such a glorious sound.

Cool!  And it has a V5!!  Must take some kind of action to balance that!  [emoji14] ;D

I am curious though...are Volvo's considered reliable in the whole FGC sense?  Are those 5cyls good?  Turbo's better than most? I like the looks of some of them, and if you can get one with a V8? Vy nawt!  (wasn't their V8 done by Yamaha too? Like SHO's of old?) Older one's are surely cheap by now (and by that I mean I'm going to have to go look when I'm done here).

I'm sure there's risk  :-\. But I'll be walking to work soon, so worth the risk, right? right?

I'll do more research when I'm closer to buying. Besides, if rrocket sells me his LS I won't have room for the volvo too!

For what it's worth, while these were still available new, Consumer Reports stated the V50 had lower than average reliability, while the S40 sedan version had above average reliability.  Strange as both vehicles were made in the same plant.  From what I have read in online forums, the V50 can be prone to electrical issues.  As for the engine, the 2.4 litre I5 is solid, either in normally aspirated or turbocharged form.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

I would guess that the sample size on the S40 and V50 were very, very low.

Remember CR does not publish actual numbers, just a dot-rating.

So why did you buy a new warrantied, super safe Volvo then??   :stick:

And let's not even get into all the common sense being applied to your new SUV purchase... ;D

W124 E-Class is still a great looking car.  The E500's are not the Goliath-slayers they one were (A V-6 Camry is nearly as quick...) but they're great driving cars that make nice sounds and make kms disappear quickly.

The E420s are the crazy good-buy W124 though.  MB found the 270hp V-8 model was only a hair slower than the mighty 500, so they swapped in a super-tall final drive to cut it off at the knees.  $1500 in mods on an E420 and you have a car as quick and as capable as an E500.  There's quite a few of them out there now, as at one time a used E420 was $10K and a used 500 was $30K.  I know of one sweet E420 with the short LSD rear end and big brakes for sale right now for $4K.  SO tempting.  He'd probably take $3K...

Truly, he of the most noted qualities agreeable to those, who, in their forthrightest estimations, and notwithstanding brief jaunts of fancy most infrequent, upstand significantly amongst the citizenry, some of whom yearn for the ever effervescent cake, must not be confounded when applying judgement as to whether appearances are in keeping with the mores of class, or if, alternatively, whether they are garish, gaudy, or else wise akin to unwashedness, remaining forever, as ever, everlastingly, and ever-unyieldingly and inevitably indifferent to the vicissitudes of life.

Volvo V60 Polestar. Yeah I'm a sucker for a blonde swede, even if she's temperamental. I love the seats, superbly comfortable. Can't afford the damn thing though.

I'm the same. Something about this car just does it for me despite the very old platform and strange dash (mind you I like old school look of the buttons).

I've noticed a few non Polestar V60's on Autotrader with low mileage and the T6 (the proper one with the I6) going for sub $45K.

Love the colour combo on this one.

Same price as a Golf R. Tough decision.

Yeah, those wheels do look a bit much.

(Sorry if I'm coming off as an a$$, I've been attempting "good-natured ribbing", but I realize that often doesn't come across well on the internet.)
