They should make it a functional easy access storage space vs. a useless back seat

If you squint it does look like an MX-5. Will it sell as well though?
Lose the backseat. Passengers throw off the balance.  ;D

Disagree - it can be used to store stuff, AND it lowers your insurance rates.  Not to mention that if you ever need the seats, however unusable as they are, they are there.

Dunno about you guys, but in Ontario, insurance is effing expensive and it isn't getting any cheaper.

I agree, I hate the rear "seats" on most sports cars. Just give me a package shelf and call it a day.
Lighten up Francis.....

i like the option of the back seats... i have lots of friends that would want a ride and having to do laps with one at a time is just too time consuming!

i would hazard a guess that that interior wouldn't end up in a production car... interesting, but not to many people's tastes i would think.

overall.. nice car. blend of mx5 and 350z to me.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Back seats,no matter how small, serve perfectly well as package shelves and have the added benefit of allowing you to legally carry an extra passenger on occasion.....they make sense to me. We probably only used the back seat my wife's Cooper S convertible a handful of times in two years but it was useful when we needed it.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Odd that Toyota would present this as a concept vehicle...it's a convertible version of the coupe with a phoney interior. Get on with it already.

I agree. The convertible version seems like a no-brainer and an obvious next step. Why go to the bother of a concept?

Agree - then this could be added to the "Toy for Weexy" list... although i'd probably still go Mustang.  I want a convertible & would also like a V8 while they still exist and I can afford to feed it fuel.
However,, my thought on what I would buy seems to change on a daily basis...

If they bring this to market at a fairly reasonable price (30's?) it could well be my wife's next car.

I like how it looks...

I find having back seats useful. I can throw stuff back there. I am fine with no back seats in the Miata for the sole reason that it makes the car smaller.

Remaining interesting question for me will be how it performs dynamically.

That would obviously depend on how good of job they do in making up for the loss of rigidity when they cut off the roof. Although, that was a interesting point about the convertible have a lower centre of gravity.
