Curious as to how one parks these things, though. Public parking spaces are so tiny. I'd hate to be stuck beside one every day at the train station. The facking Ford Explorer beside me already crowds my spot.  >:(

Easy, you find a parking spot and back into it.....really not that bad at all.
Lighten up Francis.....

Compared to my f-150 this thing would be a breeze to park, but i avoid parking in the city, or any lots if possible.  The suicide rear doors are a real pita when anything is close beside!

Compared to a ginormous pickup truck, it's easy to park. Compared to a midsize sedan,  it's not so easy, I suspect. For sure this beast would not fit in my single car garage. Or if it did, I'd be entering and exiting through the sunroof. ;D
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Actually because of properly sized mirrors most of these "ginormous" trucks and SUVs are a breeze to park.

As much as I don't like the interior for the price range, this is would be my choice if I had to tow a lot of weight on a regular basis.  I don't have anything to tow for now, so I'd prefer a nice SQ5 instead.

Finally, a proper SUV to test. If I could, I would buy an XL version of this today, probably the most well rounded SUV out there. Price, well how many fru fru CUVs that can barely seat 5 and carry luggage are in this area??

I would get a Infiniti QX80 over this any timer of the day. Much better overall for the same price.

This was not design for urban living...my Explorer got keyed a few months ago because the spot I was assigned at the work parkade could barely fit a small car, so somebody got pissed!
Nowadays I do 'non-reserved parking' and choose spots that are far away and often times I take 1-1/2 - ridiculous to see how small spots have become.

Is that the big V8 one or that stupid little one with the CVT?? If the former, great vehicle, cannot stand the front end....if the latter, ewwww, gross.

Former. It's the old QX56.  And I concur.  The look is just too bulbous.

I saw this at the store,CR saying this newer gen isn't as reliable as the previous gen.  But no details.  Anyway for me, the short list is a 2010 GMC Yukon with the 5.3L and the 6 spd.  Seems to be one of the most reliable that can handle at 4500lb trailer.   Don't trust the reliability of a Grand Cherokee or Durango.

And regarding the size.  It's the same size (in length as most minivans)

V8. Styling is subjective. This one might not be a beauty but at least is distinctive.

Reliability on the Durango has been surprisingly good, especially compared to the older generations.

Yeah I noticed that.  Will consider it, but if the price is pretty close between a 2010/2011 Durango vs the Tahoe, I would take the Tahoe.

The old man has a Yukon Denali shorty. FWIW I would take my LR4 over it in a heartbeat. The Yukon has a smidgen more cargo room if you remove the third row and it has more width. Compared with the LR4 the ride is trash and the Rover is much more nimble in an urban setting. I think the Rover tows more too but not sure, they are pretty close. Butt dyno says they close on the open road  This only goes for the 2013 and older V8 rigs though before Rover got stupid and chopped some cylinders off..  Off road it is no contest, the AWD system on the Denali has no low range  ;)

Since I would not use it for off road purposes, I would take the Yukon.  Much prefer a NA V8 that gets better gas mileage than a supercharged V6 that has less hp, and less fuel efficient, on top of that there is the premium fuel penalty.

Another bonus, should the need arise, many more Yukon/Tahoe parts available at the wreckers.  And more used examples to buy as well.

Since the majority of these things live there life on road GM should hurry up and ditch the live axle. It hurts the ride quality and ruins the third row/cargo area. GM keeps the live axle because it is cheap. You end up with a vehicle that is huge on the outside that doesn't have the corresponding room on the inside.  With the coin they charge they could upgrade the suspension. ;)

I would take a XL over the shorty any day. It rides much better and holds more.

The switch to IRS on the Expedition did wonders for ride and handling, but the single biggest improvement was interior space. Night and day different to the previous generation.
But the old girl is really overdue for replacement.

I really don't think the Expedition rides any better than the GMC, especially the Denali with magnetic ride control. I do agree that GM should try out IRS if at least for the Denali and Escalade models. It sure doesn't seem to keep people from buying them.

We took a long road trip with our Denali XL this weekend (an 09) It got a very respectable average of 12.9L/100km, that with 5 kids on board, luggage, and a rack with two mountain bikes hanging out back.
