I sat in the '13 Civic (several of them, actually) at the Auto Show earlier this week - the driver seat, in my opinion, seems to have gotten flatter...did you find this on your drive, Brendan?

Maybe the higher-up models seemed nicer inside, but I didn't find much of a difference between the '12 and '13.  I like the exterior changes, but I'm not so convinced about any of their other claims.

The lack of a 60/40 rear seat is just downright depressing.

Either the reviewer is wrong or honda is wrong. The 13 civic comes with a 60/40 folding seat except for the base model.

I have done this run many times and my advice would be to cross the Lion's Gate Bridge Bridge from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, otherwise you'll spend an hour stuck in traffic. Going across Second Narrows is about 5 km longer but often much faster. Really, Lower Mainland traffic is horrid; however, in freeway-crossed Seattle, it is no better, so it is apparent that we can't build our way out if traffic problems.

The I-5 is not the smoothest thing in the world and is really bad on hot summer days when the expansion joints are sticking up.

As for the car, well the Civic is ubiquitous in these parts; a glace out my window shows three of them.

That's good...though I have beef with manufacturers making 'options' of things that really REALLY should be standard (like VARIABLE intermittent wipers on my father's Corolla, or a fricken armrest/centre console in the 2009 Jetta TDI Trendline for $25k that we considered instead - that lack of console was the fatal reason we didn't buy it).

Brendan, can you comment on the driver's seat of the Civic?  Flat?  Good?  Comfy?  Ouchy?

I found it quite comfortable, and I have fairly average dimensions (5'11"). Of course, the last compact sedan I was in was the new Sentra which has front seats designed by the Spanish Inquisition.

So Civic freight is $1495 which sucks for Canadians since it's made in Canada.  But if freight/pdi worked like you guys think it works what should Honda charge for Freight/PDI for Honda Fit that comes over from China?  Currently they charge the same $1495.
