2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) (New to me)
« on: November 28, 2014, 10:30:37 am »
Found & purchased a somewhat local 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado X 3.6 Pentastar with Leather, Garmin Nav with Uconnect , Parkview +++ 78Km from Chrysler dealer.
Only thing missing that she wants are running boards/NERF side rails. Under the impression that it will act as a step into vehicle for her 5.3" height. My only concern is that most side bars I've seen are at the same level of vehicle floor and don't really act as a step in.

Wife's new ride.

Found mopar site for checking VIN recalls. https://www.moparownerconnect.com/oc/us/en-us/sub/Pages/RecallsQuery.aspx
I found two outstanding recalls which were completed prior to pickup.

Congrats!  That's my favourite generation of GC.  The new ones look a bit over-styled to me.

They are also nice to drive and very refined.  I am sure you'll enjoy it.

my wife is the same height.  I'll ask her if the Tacoma side steps help.
I'm thinking they do, even if they're at the same level of the vehicle floor.

I think she'll take one side on the bar, while the other step goes up and over the door sill hump and into the vehicle floor.   I think it helps a bit for the step in gap + height.

The bars don't do much for me though.

It's a handsome rig.  Congrats to your wife (and you too).  ;D

My Escape has side steps.  My 3 & 8 year old sons find it easier to get in thanks to these steps.  My wife & I, however find them to be a nuisance that one has to step around.  This is even more of a problem when the steps are covered in slush/salt/mud (i.e. dirty pant legs). Once the kids are tall enough to get in & out with out the steps I will remove them.

Thanks all on the congrats and also for the side step-rails feedback. I'm on the fence on these. I kind of like seeing her have to hold on the steering wheel and yank her way into the seat like a truck driver.  :run:

Congrats. They are a great little SUV. Friend of ours has one in white and I love the thing, comfy, quiet, looks good, love the interior and the Pentastar has decent pickup.
Lighten up Francis.....

G.M. at work has the Hemi version Limited. It has heater steering wheel, ventilated seats and power lift gate but is considerably more. She is happy considering her this is a big step from her last vehicle.

The running boards are also useful when you need to clean snow off the vehicle's roof, or have to wash it.   :)

Congrats!  Nice ride.   :)

a good choice! 11 had a few issues, but still good.. 12 just ironed out some of those but kept the important stuff.

x was a good package. made it have the most important things to seem like luxury without getting into that next price bracket. considering what you and your wife were looking for, it's a great model.

enjoy and if you ever have questions about it, let me know! might be able to look it up in my system... but looks like that other one isn't too far off from what i'd find.

Thanks all  :). Picked up the slush mat set from a local Chrysler dealer. They're good in the front but have minimal coverage for the rear passenger floor.

Wife read some comments regarding the side rails and is on the fence.

I want this now http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-JEEP-GRAND-CHEROKEE-WHEELS-RIMS-MICHELIN-TIRES-2014-2015-FACTORY-OEM-SET-9136-/181540466937?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheel_Packages&hash=item2a44a7b0f9&vxp=mtr Anyone passing by Troy Michigan to G.T.A.

Do you mean because its 10 years old?  Or because it's an Escape?  Escapes are pretty reliable...
