Dealer can not access the ECU on MKV GTI...
« on: November 25, 2014, 03:25:29 pm »
Hi,

Just wonder if anyone has any clue of whats going on here...

I did a regular service on 7th Nov for my 09 GTI and last Friday the check engine light came on...

I dropped off car at dealership this morning and they called me about 10 min ago telling me that they can not even read the ECU and they donot know what caused check engine light...They quoted me about 400$ for a replacement of the module...

The car has no mod at all...Need some help to understand more here.

1: Technical Question (there's a forum for that)
2: Try a VW forum: golfmkv.com or vwvortex.com

Good luck! :hello:

Could be bad ECU interface or bad ECU.

Do you have a regular OBDII reader or a friend with one or access to a VAG-COM?   Does it detect your ECU when you plug it in?

The guy in dealership told me it is some gateway module (broken) preventing the reader to read the ECU...

I do not have a reader...

Is your radio/nav unit aftermarket or is it stock?
Never customized car in anyway...
