2014 Hyundai Tucson – Passenger Side Floor Damp
« on: November 24, 2014, 09:46:14 am »
I booked an appointment to get this looked at but it’s not till December 8th. I thought I would make a post to see if anyone had some suggestions on possible causes.

From time to time I’ve noticed my passenger side floor is damp. Its worst where the floor meets the bottom of the dashboard.  I’ve only went 12,000 KM I find it hard to believe something would be clogged with leaves etc... Are there any places or things I could check myself?

Nobody ever sits in this seat so its not from snow melting.  My car is rarely near trees, I can't see leaves being the problem either.

First thing I would do is go to a car wash with a buddy and have him hose down the windshield/door/sunroof/passenger window while you sit in the car with a flashlight and see if you have any leaks.. I would also check to see the area where the wipers sit, for leaves, ice...something.
Lighten up Francis.....

Could also be a clogged drain for the a/c condenser. Try driving around without the a/c on (no defog setting) and see if that makes a difference. Although, if it's been colder than plus 3 or 4, the a/c condenser has probably not been cycling on anyway.

Thanks, will give these suggestions  a try. I would call it a minor problem. There isn't actually any water sitting on the floor or it's not soggy feeling

Yeah, but still, having water sitting in your car is a bad thing. Mold, rust....no bueno.

Could using reciculate air option for a lengthy time cause this dampness? Seeing it can fog up windows I wonder if it's causing the passenger floor to be damp which rarely has anyone sitting there to get the floor damp

I just realized yesterday this was turned on, it's probably been on for a while. I don't recall turning it on anytime recently.
