335i with WS80s & M5 replikas
« on: November 21, 2014, 08:09:19 am »
Ready for winter!

Had my appointment to put on my winter tire package yesterday. Yes, that's right, yesterday, which would be one day after the GTA snowfall. Timing couldn't have worked out worse, but they're on now and are great.

Let me just remind those who are reading this. Snow + RWD + 19" Staggered performance summer tires = BAD, VERY BAD.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Looks very nice!  What size did you to with?  Staggered?

They're 225/45/18, same size on each corner. Wheels are replicas. All in the package was $1,650.

That's a very good price.  On my previous 3s that came with staggered summers, I've also got same size Blizzaks (directional) so I could rotate front to rear.

The wheels are Replika r141a model and are already black (see link). I believe they are Chinese made so likely not the best quality, but from my perspective they are winter wheels and are better looking than black steelies (though I like that look too)! They also clear the M-Sport brakes, which are slightly larger than the standard 3 series setup.

In my previous post I was looking at the black BBS replicas, but they were offered by a shop that was further away from me.

I got the package from tires23 in Mississauga, but I'm pretty sure other dealers sell them. Lots of competition in the GTA so these prices are typical.

Nice. Seems like a great call for winter. I have book marked the page for future car purchases  ;)

sorry to go off-topic, but if you are in the west coast (i know you ain't, vman, but for other members here) 1010tires has few replicas for bimmers as well.

Looks great!  I've got the exact same tires on my 335i but my Replikas are M6 knock-offs.  This is my 3rd winter on them.  They haven't aged all that well but since they're mostly black (like yours) they still look good.

Vman, Bast Tires sells Replikas.

Good to know but I'm sure their pricing is whack. Will inquire when I own a future MB or BMW  ;)  :P :P

It was actually the first time Bast undercut Tire Rack's price.  Tire Rack didn't offer the Replikas, but the same tires on Sport Edition rims were more expensive.  I've bought ALL my other winter wheels from Tire Rack (RSX, 135i, Jetta, Passat and Highlander).

Looks great! I checked the website and they say they're a "Canadian Wheel manufacturer".  ???

I read somewhere that while some assembly is done in Canada, hence the "Canadian Wheel manufacturer" claim, that casting and parts come from China. I'm not sure either way but given the low price, I'm a little skeptical that the entire wheel is made in Canada. If it is, great!

These are better than steelies, for your car.  It's nice to still see those calipers.   :D   They look great!  Have a blast.

So had to fix the rear driver's side tire, which developed a slow leak over the past few weeks. Turns out it was a nail in the tire. $50 later and all patched up now. Still less expensive than the recommended winter run flats.

Plus, as a side benefit with this is I picked up a nice 12v mini compressor from CT, which looks like  it will be handy to have around.
