i was watching some interesting reviews of the new Colorado (also applicable to the Canyon, of course) and you can get all sorts of interesting factory applied accessories included with your truck...the accessories were made in partnership (i think, as they had their label on them) with Thule, to carry a wide variety of "stuff" (surfboards, bikes, kayaks, etc)...not sure if they had one for a canoe, but it looked like a well designed system.

as well, the reviews of the new Colorado seem pretty good...i was already planning on taking a look at them when they come out, but the more i see them, the more interested in them i get...i'm not 100% sold on getting a GM truck, but i suppose if there is one thing they get right, it's trucks.

The extended cab with 6 foot box Tacos share the same wheel base as the double cab with 5 foot box. Only the double cab with 6 foot box has an extended wheelbase. Not as city friendly but I did manage to parallel park it downtown.with less than a foot to spare in front of and behind me.  ;D

i do not have a PhD in mathematics, but i think you are off on your measurements there...if there was less than a foot in front and behind the vehicle, it wouldn't be possible to put it there, or get out after.

The magic of parallel parking. I've been in spots as tight as 12" longer than my car (6" either side). I've taken some photos I'll dig up later. Actually the absolute tightest I've been in was 4" longer than the length of my car, when I lived downtown, but I had to jump the curb to manage that.

There is quite a difference in ride quality on these trucks in Limited trim and TRD trim.  Most people end up with TRD equipped trucks which have a harsher more truck like ride on road.

I used to think any truck of mine had to have an 8' box, but with all the bed extension options available now that isn't a deal killer any more.

Im contemplating one of these for carrying 8-10" lumber and drywall......

...or get a van and carry the drywall inside. I know, I know...dry drywall is sooo uncool. :stick:

Contractor in my area has a grey market, previous-gen Sprinter pick-up, single cab and what looks like a 10' bed, proper pick-up style. Trucks should always be based on vans if utility was really the point.

If James got 14 l/100km out of the Taco, that means most of us would be in the 18 l/100km range...

that truck is essentially a 75 inch wide box that is also 221 inches long...having such a small distance between both vehicles would require the front wheels to turn at an angle that i doubt they can do.

while the video that Sernitor linked shows its possible, that is not a proper method to park...as well, you can't get the vehicle out due to a lack of space...if a Mini can't get out with 4", nothing larger would either.

I'm shocked by the numbers.

I've got nearly 4,000km on the Taco so far.
My total running average so far is 11.7L / 100km
My absolute worse is 12.48L / 100km
My best is 11.14L / 100km

I've yet to break 13L
maybe as it get colder I will (and I expect so...)

Me too!

I think it will be mid to late Jan.  Haven't heard about a schedule yet but was told it was coming.

i've watched a few video reviews online and all seem to give it pretty high praise...power, ride quality, interior design/quality, capability all seem to be very well thought out and put together...many people said that many of the things that GM got right with the newest Silverado are shared in their smaller siblings, which was a great move on their part...it really could be considered a Silverado Lite.

I'm suspecting Toyota has been waiting to see how this trucks do.
I talked to one of the GM guys at the auto show and he said the GM brass was quite surprised Toyota didn't run out to update the Taco when they announced the return of the twins.

I have no issues with the Taco's power and capability (more power is always nice).
Interior quality in terms of the dash / design is alright but they really need to step up the seats.

What I'll be looking forward to is how comfortable the seats / trim are.
Fuel economy.   So far, from what I've seen - aside from a few little options the aged Taco should have, there's wasn't anything that's blown my socks off.

I suspect reviews will naturally put the GM twins on top of the mid-size market due to the aged Taco.
If Toyata can get a new Taco for 2016, we'll see pretty sweet battle going on!

yes, both Nissan and Toyota have new versions coming, but it may be 1-3 years before we see both new iterations...i like the Tacoma, but don't like the packaging/pricing...i like the Frontier, but the new Colorado certainly has my interest.
