you aren't finding anything that is a "real car" anywhere near the price that can touch those numbers.
how about an Ariel Atom with the hellcat engine in it?
...unless the frame (with full roll cage) is made of adamantium, I wouldn't touch that without Star Power.

...but still...DO WANT!  ;D

That's actually an incredible commercial.

The Hemi Hellcat V8 used in the Dodge Charger and Challenger not only generates 707 peak horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque; it also builds up a stunning 411 pound-feet of torque at just 1,200 rpm, providing instant-on responsiveness, according to Charger/Challenger SRT chief engineer Darryl Smith.

haha! you haven't met him... cool is an interesting choice!

very subtle colour choice... i saw one in that combo in pictures at the track day they held... looked nice. my dad wanted pure 'murica, so sublime green with black hood/wheels.

just a note to your dad, though most dealers don't know, they won't be building canadian spec challengers until april. they probably figured we can't drive them up here in the winter, so why rush...

My 70 year old Father has a Challenger Hellcat on order and should have it by early next year.  I told him to wait until he is exactly 70.7 to drive it. :o  I will definitely be posting my own review ideally with a GoPro and the windows down.

Cool!  What cars has your dad owned in the past?  Muscle cars?  I know someone that also has one on order (he's probably in his 70s) and currently track/races a 300 SRT.
Don't fight it.  The sooner you get it the better.

agree about the colours.. i'm sure there will be some kind of late addition to the palette. that factory already has some impressive colours, so no reason that they should keep every one of them subdued. as i said previously, this car is meant to be the "calmer" of the hellcats... but even so, a colour should still be available...

only colours on my availability right now are silver, white, grey, ivory, blue, 2 blacks and 2 reds... considering the charger has come in go mango, furious fuchsia, top banana, plum crazy, sublime, header orange... all have been short run, late availability colours, so there is still a chance.

Does anyone but Chrysler handle colours in this way so consistently? Seems like every year there are late availability colours on the Wrangler, sometimes they span into the next model year but just barely. It's very weird.

keeps demand even throughout the year. and increases demand on used models...

you want a bright green wrangler, you need a used one... if you only buy new, you had better jump on a colour you like when you see it is available.

chrysler likes to throw out special editions and such all the time. makes ordering tough. it's kind of like halo cars... they get people in the door on a special edition or colour, then hope the dealer can sell them what they actually want/can afford/exists.

not my favourite, but rather than complain about how tough it makes it to order, i like to look at it as a benefit that we have so many choices (even if not all at the same time!)

I am thinking that maybe the automatic trans in the Hellcat lineup might not be a bad option to go with.  My natural instinct was to reflexively plan for the manual.  But I am wondering whether the auto would prove to be some fun in its own right.

Thoughts?
Auto would be more fun/faster for drag racing.

the more i read and watch, that auto seems to be the actual performer of the two.

can understand both sides of that though...

I'd definitely want a row-your-own in an application like this, because to me shifting is part of the fun even if the auto is faster

i had noticed it when i posted, but figured i knew who was posting... AP was talking about the challenger i would think...

but the charger that this thread is about will only come as the auto variant... at least that is all that i have heard from my sources.
