this car could be a real rocket if it came coupled with a good AWD system to help put all that power down...as it stands, I say NO.

More weight (bad) , more complexity (more bad), more cost (badder) and less smoky burnout (baddester)......in a word...hell to the no.

disagree...

Ok....Nissan and Fiatsler are not in cahoots. Nissan has been building fast, awd supercars since the 80's......Fiatsler has problems with little things like how do we get the door handles to stay on....or "whats a MUH PU GUUZ". An AWD, 700+HP Chrysler, would throw up more problems than a VW being hit by an EMP.
Lighten up Francis.....

Not sure of the basis for some of the comments labelling the Charger as "politically incorrect", "arrogant", "way over the edge of excess", etc. What are your criteria? Speed (many cars are faster), loud (within legal parameters), expensive (give me a break), fuel mileage (about the same as a Honda Ridgeline and 30% better highway mileage than a 4WD Toyota Sequoia)? I will give every Hellcat driver a thumbs up. If you can live large for 65 grand, more power to ya.

So, I'm hearing... If the Hellcat were a different car entirely, it would be awesome.   ;)

I think it's awesome for what it is. To me it's a modern 4-door muscle car with a monster engine, full stop. The concept either works for you or it doesn't.

I agree.  Totally.  ...and I think it portrays the proper image that Dodge was going for.

No, I saw it. Since autos.ca doesn't typically perform instrumented tests and there's no context for that number, it doesn't mean much and can't be compared to test numbers from other publications.
Fair enough.  I concur.

I am going to get a meme now, aren't I.
Nope.  Memes cannot be requested, nor should they be feared.  They are to be used when you least expect it (except, clearly everyone expects me to always use a meme or an emoticon (since when are they called emojis?)

Jacob will always get memes of love, Fob will always get memes of hilarity (and sometimes he returns the favour with memes of threats of cutting), rrocket will always get memes of fun stuff (miscellaneous), SirO will always get memes of utter and complete submission, and I others get on a post-per-post basis.

Out of hilarity, I googled "Love Jacob" and found this - I didn't make it, which makes the pic reference all the more funny:

I drove the car too. Most of Virginia is still on fire.

It's a pretty silly machine, but completely wonderful in many ways. Aren't muscle-cars suppose to make you laugh a bit? the Hellcat certainly does.

Apparently, they are meant to be stylistically restrained, feature AWD powertrains, and be able to outperform Nissan GT-Rs.

Oh, and be made by someone - anyone - other than FCA. Preferably Ford or Mercedes Benz.

As for me, I think this thing is awesome! If given the choice though, I'd take the Challenger Hellcat with a manual please.

address a few comments...

the charger is supposed to be the grocery getter of the hellcat family... so that's why they don't bother adding to the complication of putting the manual. and in all honesty, the manual is not as strong as the auto and i'm sure most reviewers will tell you, they can go faster in the auto. (which is kinda the point in a car like this)

awd would put the price into a different category and wouldn't make this car appeal to any more people... the kind of people who say this car should have awd would never buy it anyways. either they are never going to buy a muscle car, or they love the track days and want a more balanced race car (which even with awd, this car would not be it).

as for the 0-60 and all that.. this car was tested.
Quote
He called it the quickest, fastest, most powerful four-door sedan in the world, with a 204 mph top speed, and an NHRA-certified 11.0 second quarter mile time with street tires, “bone stock.” Mr. Kuniskis called it “redefined practicality.”

On drag radials, the car does the quarter mile in 10.7 seconds, officially and without modifications.

The 0-60 time is 3.7 seconds on street tires, 2.9 on drag radials.

you aren't finding anything that is a "real car" anywhere near the price that can touch those numbers.

Can you imagine if they brought back the Dodge Magnum and made it a Hellcat?  Seriously, imagine it.  What fun would it be to outrun Exotics in a station wagon?
Now THAT would be something to consider...

holy :censor:, that'd be really interesting, actually.

weird... I'm only catching up on this thread now, but returning from lunch (in the Challenger Hellcat - *evil cackle*) at about the time you posted this, i had the exact same thought.

That's exactly how the Magnum was marketed in 2005
