« on: October 23, 2014, 08:37:41 pm »

I get 10 years out of any Johnson Control battery, boat or vehicle.  Interstate is one of their brands.

Surprisingly, Costco brand (Kirkland) makes a really good battery....which is also made by Johnson Controls.

I had a Duralast battery that was excellent...also made by Johnson Controls.

So....Johnson controls?  :)

Whatever you do, don't buy an Exide from Crappy.

How about these Optima batteries at Crappy? They are also made by Johnson Controls.

Every Optima I've owned was crap....and was like pulling teeth to get them to honor the warranty.

I like the warranty that Costco provides.  No fuss....

I received good service from the Interstate Batteries I purchased.

Bought a battery from Costco this week. Decent price and they seem well reviewed.

If you want premium, go for an Optima. I had one in my Jeep and it took a beating, high vibration, mud, water, high draw from the winch, killed numerous times from said winch. I loved my Redtop.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yeah, it's is a well-attended place. And I hear they have some great automotive courses in VIN numbers and ABS systems.

We've always had great luck with Interstate.  The one in the Scoob is old and works like new, never an issue.

And yeah - Costco batteries are made by the same company.

It was a few years ago, but I remember geeking out on batteries when it was time to replace the one in the Civic. I really wanted an Optima (because cool new technology!), but in the end cheaped out and bought whatever from Crappy Tire. It was cheap, worked just fine, and lasted until I sold the car (5-6 years, IIRC).

It was the same when I needed a new deep-cycle battery for the travel trailer. Researched dual 6V options, looked at the Optimas again, then woke up one morning before a trip and realized I'd frozen the battery and the case had cracked. Oops.

Went to NAPA, and again bought whatever they happened to have. It's been fine for three years now.

Not sure what I'll do when the original one in the GTI dies. Might be a weird German size, but otherwise I'll probably just get whatever they have at CT and not worry much about it.

For all my daily drivers, they get Motomaster eliminators, I have run them since I replaced my first battery in my first car and theyve never given me an issue.

Wal-Mart's Everstart batteries are also made by Johnson Controls. Never an issue so one vote for them from me!
