what kills it for me is to find the same MyFord touch used in a Ford Fiesta in these $50k CUV.....like, really?

Why? I think it's a positive thing to have a consistent user experience. That type of thing should not be a "luxury" feature, just like you don't expect good ergonomics to only be found on expensive cars.

Good to know. I will keep my eye out for these kinds of deals.

Don't necessarily assume that. Ford (and GM) will at times boost the residual and offer a very low interest rate if not even at 0% so you can get a really good deal, far better than buying a 1-year old same car per example. You just need to really walk away from it at the end of the lease (don't consider buying it).

GM is currently offering more cash incentive and a lower rate on leases than on purchases on some models...

it diminishes the brand...can you imagine if Toyota used all the tech Lexus has in their vehicles? the next question would be, why buy a Lexus?

That's very different. We're talking about the user interface/experience here, not the features themselves.

It's like saying an iPhone 5C should have a different interface than an iPhone 6 Plus because they have vastly different price points. Instead, they have the same user interface but their distinguishing features are substantial.

I continue to think that the MKC is well executed, looks good and should make for a very good Lincoln. I've become more sympathetic about features being common between Ford and Lincoln brands. If you visited a Mercedes showroom lately you'd notice numerous bits and pieces that are common between 35 and 85 thousand dollar cars (or there abouts). Might be a worse violation than Ford's if you take into account the vehicle price spread.

A neighbour bought one. Looks pretty good to me.

There were quite a few MKXs around and they were glorified Edges, so I don't see the commonality being that big a deal considering the price overlap. If it was more expensive, then there may be more of an issue.

The SRX has been pretty successful inspite of sharing the same platform with the Terrain/Equinox. Most people wouldn't even realize they share a platform. The same with MDX/Pilot, RX350/Highlander etc etc. In fact the RX and SRX are usually at the top of their class in terms of sales.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

:o the MDX/Pilot are bros?  Dude.  I had no idea.

But you're totes wrong about the RX and Highlander sharing a platform.  My RX400h is distinctive and a lone wolf.  It shares nothing with nobody.  Yeah.  I went there.

(Disclaimer:  I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN ABOUT PLATFORM SHARING, BUT FIGURED THAT I COULD IRK SirO AND TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO.  FOB, PLEASE DON'T CUT ME)

All the ingredients are here but Ford and Lincoln always fall short in exterior and interior styling.
