I'm surprised anyone would choose a 30+ Sonata.  Really, if you're spending that kind of money then an Accord or a entry level luxury car isn't far off like a ATS or similar.

We've had this argument before, "well if you can swing $30K, why not go for $40k and if you are already at $40k, why not go to $45k". Most people have X amount of dollars to spend and are really weary of going above that. Usually measured in " I want x amount of dollars per month".
Lighten up Francis.....

I suspect you've not yet driven a 2015 Sonata.  It is excellent.

Had my first reconsideration today.  In the Under $30k Family cars, the Camry isn't the runaway winner I expected.  This one's a tough pick.

Even though the Sonata is making less peak horsepower on both engines, the way it delivers the power is so much better. You can almost drive spirited with the Turbo.

Drove a few more categories today.  I kept hearing such great things about the TLX and finally managed some seat time.  It is a very, very good car, but driving the C300 today reassured me that I wasn't just seeing it through rose-coloured glasses on my First Drive last spring.  It is excellent and can play the role of nimble sport sedan or comfy cruiser equally well.  A shining effort.

Just noticed on my FB feed this....

Sports – Performance (over $50,000): Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, Volvo V60 Polestar

Any early comments on how it drives?

If you move to cambridge and adopt a two car lifestyle you should totally go for the Polestar ;)

But that isn't the same thing. Big difference between a T6 Polestar (basically a chipped T6) and a Polestar which comes with many mods to the suspension, engine, trans, etc.

i think it is the same thing... i don't think they are making a polestar version like the old c30 and such. just that version of the t6... sort of the r package, but with the first polestar upgrade.

If I'd known it was you, I'd have tried harder to run you over.  ;)  Kidding... I didn't drive the Pole Dancer until today.

Quadzilla, you're right and Jacob is wrong.  The one at TestFest is the all new one.  369 ft-lbs of torque, unbelievable vicious sounding exhaust note, excellent handling, great seats, sexy wheels and that oh-so-right blue hue.  The V60 Pollstar was one of the unexpected hits of the week.  It was easier to get keys to the M4, F-Type and Stingray than it was one of the three super Volvos.  Didn't hear a bad word about it all week.  Oh, except for the $67,000 cost of admission.  Yowch.

I've known I was right since my first post. Thought it was obvious by the colour of the car.  ;D  Glad to hear its a fun car to drive. Lucky for Volvo there isn't much competition for this thing. I heard in Europe they are not flying out the door like they are here (or at least in the USA). Of course in Europe, there are many great choices like this.

I've also removed the V60 Polestar of my want list. Can't get roof rails and that is a deal breaker for me. Will have to settle for the RD now.

don't think "base price" really matters on these types of cars... base price and fully loaded is the difference of like, "performance tires vs. all seasons".  they don't make them to be optioned up... they are the optioned up car!
