Crash Tests
« on: October 16, 2014, 04:41:18 pm »
Who doesn't like watching a bit of carnage every once in a while?

I want the IIHS to test every car with the tests in the video below:

Fricken insane.  Same video but my favourite time spot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dHo8blskI8#t=450

I have to ask.  What is the IIHS/NHTSA going to do about such murderous trailers on our roads?

You'll find these crash tests interesting.  They are designed to stop trucks/large vehicles immediately.  They are to be used around Embassies, military compounds, etc.

I've seen many trucks that don't even have a bar to reduce impact from a car.

If you watched the video, you'd know that it's all 'before and after' modifications to the trucks. ;)

No...I understood.  But there are trucks on the roads NOW without these safety modifications.

There are also cars on the road that are certified as "vintage" and therefore do not have to comply with modern safety requirements.

...and then I get their owners and passengers as clients when sh!t hits the fan (i.e. when 1971 Corvettes roll into ditches due to drinking at car shows and then 'driving' home)

It all takes time.

That's the problem with the car-sharing/self-driving cars.  It'll take decades before there's significant uptake.  Quite unfortunate.

Yea, but in the old vintage cars the only person you're likely to hurt is yourself (or a passenger).

However, with these trucks they could kill anyone in any car...new or old.

Chery Amulet crash test vs. SEAT Toledo (on which the Amulet was based).
