2015 Honda CRV - Motortrend's SUV of the year

i liked the redesign, and it seems to be keeping the tradition of good car for fair money.

i may consider it for replacement of VW.

It is pleasant looking, as usual.  But the award surprised me.

Their conclusion:

"the CR-V's stellar value, engineering, and safety features combined with the cheerful way it performs its intended functions earned Honda the win."

No Q3 ?  I think it probably was not quite available in time for their test

I'm was quite surprised by this.  I would have thought Macan, GLA, or NX, considering they are all new models.  I guess the CR-V did go through a significant refresh and it is more functional that the three aforementioned.

I like that one. It gets used around the office quite a bit. ;D

Took me a while to read through the whole thing.  Honestly, THAT is a disappointing conclusion.  It sounds like they unanimously liked the steering and powertrain changes enough to give it the title, but then loathed so much about it.  The conclusion doesn't follow from the premises, and the RMPG number is shockingly bad - on par with the ancient Rogue.

I think the NX300h should have won, to be honest.  Great fuel economy with decent power and performance, all hampered by an overly firm ride.  I like the Trailhawk - sounds incredible, until you read about the transmission (which I agree - you click the paddles and it LITERALLY takes 2seconds before there is any transmission shift - it was frightening on the 200).  I could go on about them all.

As you all mention here, these comparos always end with a winner that is not the best, but simply never the worst.  "mid-pack" is always the winning formula - in this case, I'm just surprised that the Rogue didn't beat out the CRV.  I mean, I hate that powertrain in the Rogue, but the execution of the interior is worlds ahead of the CRV.

Mrs Red and I checked out two Honda dealers today to evaluate the 2015 CRV. The only real stall is in regards to their 4WS system. It's the same mediocore system Honda has used for years and really need to move it up to Acura's S-AWD system in order for it to be competitive with the like of our current Subaru.

Mitsubishi SH-AWC is a far superior system and is offered in the Outlander. Although not a fan of the Outlander styling  the SH-AWC variants (<2013 XLS V6) 2014+ offer torque vectoring.
