Kind of looks like a pumped up Micra. Not bad.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Why aiming at the Countryman and not the Juke, Crosstrek, Trax/Encore, HRV, RVR, etc?

I'll admit that it's the best-looking Fiat 500_ iteration I've yet seen.  I think it's probably going to be the best-selling one, too.

I'd say it's more of a Countryman competitor because people shopping for MINI and Fiat cars are probably looking for the same thing -- a fashion statement.

Looks good, but the size of the fog lights in relation to the headlights conjures up images of this in my head:

If priced competitively, this will change the game for Fiat. Timing for something like this could not be better. Let's hope that, unlike the Fiat 500L, the weight is kept in check. Designed in Italy, engine from the Abarth, 9 speed tranny from Chrysler, 4WD from Jeep. How can it not be successful?

I still think it looks like my Juke, with the offending bits smoothed over and the lines flowing better. Hope Fiat is tooled up to make a s...load of these.

Mark, ^^^ this is what I'm referring to.  I understand that Fiat is intended on being a "fashion" brand out of Italy, but I think that's not the underlying message - I would wager it's more-so "I'm different than your run of the mill Toyota, Subaru, Honda, etc.  Buy me."

That was the Juke's claim to fame.  Bring a froggy to market, watch the herons flock to it and snap 'em up.

...but DEAR LORD, if it gets a 1.4T with 9-speed auto, I'm running far, far away from this thing.  That really can't be a good idea.

It'll get the 1.4T with the 6-speed DCT, I'd think.

NoTo: "It'll get the 1.4T with the 6-speed DCT, I'd think."

That would be awesome, and, I agree, preferable. Hopefully the "bugs" with the 500L's DCT would be worked out fully.

I spent some quality time with one of those in the UK in 2003, Mrs tpl spent some time with one in Sw France  in 2002.  She hated it on narrow French country roads. I thought it was not a bad car in the UK...not pretty but it had lots of room and drove well enough for a rental
But they were homely to say the least.
