understandable to be doubtful... but the jeeps aren't the same as their stablemate chryco cars... grand cherokee, wrangler and wrangler unlimited hold their value at least as well as any other car in their segment...
The one nice thing about the Cherokee is that it's new - it intrigues people because it's radically different.  Kinda like a Juke ;)

I also agree with you that Jeeps tend to hold better than other Chryfis.

My Principal bought a Rubicon Unlimited for $25K compared to $50K new - initial depreciation was high as it's a top model, etc, but he played it super smart as once that initial drop, the pace of depreciation is much slower.  This is thanks to the popularity of the Wrangler and it's long standing place in the market - and his is four-doors - much more versatile - bigger audience for selling.

what year?! 25k for a rubicon unlimited should mean its about a 2010 at best... at least in today's market.

if someone has told you they bought a year old unlimited... any model, let alone the top model, for 25k, they are having you on, or the thing was hit by a train!

It's either an 09 or 10, not sure.

how long you keeping this?

I guess long term financing (if 1% and lower) doesn't matter if you're keeping this 10 years.
resale won't really matter if it's a long long term purchase as well.

I'd be really torn.   While I've had Toyotas for a while and they've all been reliable, I don't care for the RAV.
The Cherokee is so much nicer.   However, it's a new vehicle and it's a total gamble.

Long term ownership makes me lean towards the RAV, but the Jeep is way nicer.

at least if you had the ability to finance for shorter (4 years) you could take the gamble and if it didn't work out at least you have a paid off vehicle to trade in.

Part of me also wants to believe most vehicles are pretty reliable now a days.
but we know it's not true.....

If 96 is a requirement then the Rav4 is the only choice.

IMO, if 96 is a "requirement", it should really be questioned whether any new vehicle should be purchased.

Took a quick look and it seems like the longest term Toyota offers on the RAV4 is 84 months at 1.9%.

So 96 months would be from a bank? I wonder what that rate would be? 5-6% at best?

longest lending we'll do on an auto loan is 72 months and the rate sucks.
we can't compete with dealer financing on new vehicles.

Toyota changes financing terms throughout promotions.

the only mfg I heard of with 96 months financing is Hyundai...varying from .99% to 2.99% depending on the model. Actually, 0.9% isn't bad at all for 96m.

the jeep has 96 months...  for 3.49%... for the rest of the day anyways! program changes tomorrow.

but we offer 96 on everything now... generally it's 3.99% hate it... but to compete we have to have it and i often have to bring it up... i make sure to tell them it's open and they can pay it early... and to *please* do that or they will be upsidedown until about 90 months!

they pretend to listen.

I think VW has it now too.

What is family pricing through Jeep?  How much is the price knocked down?

it's really not all that much.. these new models are very stingy on mark-up... so the deal for a family member is usually under a grand difference to what i can do otherwise. roughly +-2k or so off msrp depending on the trim/options.
