2014 Rav4

Any major issues with the 2014 Rav4?  I have heard it has poor front overlap in collision but haven't heard any other issues.

MT doesn't seem to care for it I noticed the other day...

"Sum Up: Serviceable for the segment and that's about it."

NO.  It's a bullet proof unit with top resale.  Also has the center diff lock if AWD is your choice.

If on road collisions is a worry, buy into a bigger segment.  :)

Bulletproof?  What kind of data are we going on here?  An initial quality survey?

I test drove the current gen RAV4 against my RAV4. This is what I noticed:

Interior: way better. Nicer materials, well laid out. A little bit more quieter on the inside (my RAV4 is loud at highway speeds).
Drive: steering felt a little light. The brakes needed to be pressed harder than my RAV4 to get similar results.

Overall, with the typical Toyota reliability, it is an average SUV. However, it should be noted that at the time I made my decision, it was between RAV4 and the Subaru Forester. I found the Forester to be the better vehicle but family vetoed it. Now, since I have more authority on the decision, if I had a choice between the current gen RAV4 and Forester, I would go Forester.

count in me for another vote on the Forester!

+1.

The new Rav4 has rock-solid suspension, I hear.  Not great if you're driving around (err, through) potholes.

The interior is quite possibly the best in class, though - just not aesthetically...or by features...but by attention to detail.  Those rear seats/cargo space

I really like the new RAV.  Nice interior, inoffensive exterior that won't age quickly and tried/true mechanicals that are indeed uber-reliable.  It's a solid buy.

But, this is one seriously popular and crowded segment with lots of competition, and most of them are good choices.  Look at them, test drive some, and buy the one you like best.  Odds are you'll be happy with it.

Not sure I agree with you there...I think it's quite offensive and looks like it's already aged poorly.

I personally don't like the design at all.  However, there are some colours that are pulling it off better than others.   Most times, the front looks like it has a fat lip...
