I doubt it very much if the base engine will even make it to North America.
My uneducated guess would be 2 liter.

Strongly agree.  Now, I suspect some kind of turbo in 2-3 years.  Because the CX-9 is going to need a new engine, so I suspect it will get a turbo.  Which can be used in other vehicles.

Can you come wax my Mazda?  It's much easier in pearl white....

I would if i lived closer. ;D  If I could find a marble white in the exact same condition as my car i would do a trade.
Mazda only did one turbo miata in North America 2004 -2005. In other markets such as Australia they had a factory turbo earlier on
in the NB production run.http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_111609/article.html

I think they will offer the 2.5 Because competition is heating up in the Roadster market and offering a 2.5 vs a 2l adds almost nothing to the cost and very little weight. The 2l may be a base option. I don't see them going for less power. The 2l would be a nice engine with great balance, but the 2.5 will satisfy the power hounds and start nibbling at the Z4 and SLK market.

Not sure if there is enough room for the 2.5L, as the other cars that use that engine have a larger engine bay.  Not really sure how much bigger it is physically...

I doubt it will be a problem. If they intended to install it they would have provisioned for it, The current car can take the 2.3

That's true. But at what cost to weight distribution.  And when they stuffed that V-8 in the NA, I assume the A/C was taking out.  Not that I care about A/C.

Overall, the car gains less than 200 lbs with 1/3 of that on the rear wheels. In other words, the car does not become a nose-heavy beast.

So yeah, it's not that much different.

Nope AC stays stock as well. Miatas (NA and NB are known to be quite roomy under the hood.
