Hammy's New 2011 BMW 335I XDrive Coupe!!!
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:17:55 pm »
Let me start off by saying I love this car........ I was browsing the local paper last Saturday and as usual went directly to the cars for sale insert and I couldn't believe my eyes, a 2011 BMW 335I Xdrive with 30,000 km. I went directly to the dealership Monday morning, gave it a good once over, test drive and I was sold.  They gave me a decent trade on the Optima and the deal was finalized.  It has all new brakes and tires, I called the local BMW dealership and all maintenance was up to date with no reported problems according to them.  Once I have had her a couple weeks I will do an in depth review, but so far it's ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

This morning I washed, clay barred, applied some Menzerna Power Lock and Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax for good measure.  The car dealer said they had the car clay barred and waxed but I was extremely dubious considering the lack of shine on the paint after I washed it.  Once my three hour labour of love was complete she was looking pretty fine if I do say so myself!  Check it out:

Just do the rear window not the 2nd row side.

Beautiful color combo BTW.

Is that the 8 speed ZF automatic?

That would be F10 gear I believe, not E92.

Hammy - I am seldom on here any more, but wish to compliment you on your new to you BMW 335i coupe. Very sharp looking car, and I am sure you will enjoy that N55 engine.

Just a little detailing tip - you can pull the wheels, and paint the hubs with a silver (usually, to match the brake calipers, etc) rust inhibitor paint. It is common for these cars, particularly if near ocean, to have rust on the wheels hubs. One of my 135i's was the same way. It would look much better and stop that surface rust from getting worse. Be prepared to block up the car and leave the paint dry at least overnight.

Enjoy your car, they are fun.  :)

Now that you mention it the wheel hubs do look like they need some sprucing up.  Thanks for the tip!

I somehow managed to get a nail in one of my run flats... It went flat but I could drive on it.  Bmw said they had to replace the tire, it is $600.  I went to canadian tire and they plugged it, it seems to be fine now.  Man if I never had bad luck I wouldn't have any at all!

Congrats! I love the colour combo (same as our 328...you have good taste!  ;D )

That's too bad about the tire. I'm sure others with more knowledge than I will chime in but I thought runflats were done after you drove on them while flat?
