the Matrix will be no more
we have an agreement, vehicle is being picked up from Toronto today.
I'm signing all documents Saturday morning and vehicle will be ready and taken Tuesday!
it's been a loooong journey.
both myself and ms Blotter got all over the map and couldn't make a choice, for a while.
making plans, changing plans, debating plans.
here's a recap:
First vehicles to make the list:
- Subaru Outback: We had a Subaru before, it should have been the Outback. Maybe this was going to be it.
However, after carefully analyzing potential travel trailers and tow requirements, this was taken off the list
- Volvo XC70: this would have to be used. Too hard to find. Towing would be maxed out and dealer is +1hr away.
- Jeep Cherokee: I still think if an SUV was the go to design, this would have been the one.
- Honda Ridgeline: I know this one all too well, but a box that was too short cut it off the list.
- 1/2 ton trucks: These options came to be not too long ago. We never wanted a big truck, but incentives had us "explore" the potential. The main issue with any option was the looks. I wanted NO chrome. Slim pickings and cornered into expensive trims. Tundra was too much, Ford was out of the question for Ms Blotter, with GM nothing really had any spark. The RAM was one I got Ms Blotter to start potentially accepting. However, as I started to think about a plan to visit a forum Member, the local dealership crushed the deal. The dealership has never been what I would call great. I once asked how much an oil change was for the Cherokee, the guys looked at each other hoping one would have an answer and finally I got, "the one with the Hemi?" WTF? really? Recently though we've had a paint issue with the Fiat, I've made a couple calls and we've not heard anything back. At least call me back!!!!!! grrrrrrrrr... that killed it.
Even if I could have gotten a competitive deal on a RAM from someone, I still need to trust my local dealer for any service or future issues.
- Nissan Frontier: We found even the crew cab rear seats really small and generally a little smaller than the Taco
- Toyota Tacoma... We originally wanted the piryte mica (brown)
earlier this week I happen to notice for 2015 they dropped that colour. A quick e-mail was sent to my sales guy to confirm if this was true and what 2014 were left.... well there was ONE left.
We went over last night after work and within 15 minutes had a deal.
within that 15 minutes, he called the dealership with the truck, they flipped the truck into our local dealer's inventory and our dealer filled them back a 2015 Tundra that's being built. So it will now get delivered to them instead of here. (pretty sweet system). The deal was great, same we had originally worked out a month ago, even though this wasn't his stock and he knew we wanted this and it was the last one.
He didn't ask me for a deposit or sign anything and simply said, I know we're good.
Saturday we go sign.
everything should be in place for picking up on Tuesday.
