Both vehicles, typically every two weeks each on average. The 3 which my wife drives most of the time gets about 580-650km to a 45L tank, the Odyssey which I drive most of the time gets 450-500km for a 60L tank.

I would worry about having an inappropriate blend of gas for the temperature in your case. I would top it up every couple of months, even if it's just a few dollars.

Now that the Forester XT resides in 'Murica and Lady Noto only drives 2 miles per day (with 1 stop sign and no traffic lights), :shuffle: June 9th.  She seriously doesn't drive other than to/from work.

2mi = 3.2km.  At 9.8L/100km, that's 31.25 work days until she hits 100km.  At 65L in the tank, that's 6.5*31.25 = 203 days before I would have to fill.

I may fill the tank this weekend...it's at 5/8ths, so just to top 'er up ;D

Filled the Corolla today, the Miata yesterday.  Been a few weeks for either of them.  Corolla was far from empty but I was at Costco so I topped it off.  Even after 6.5yrs of owning that thing it's still odd to me to see 500km of city driving on the odo and put only 30L or so in the tank.

I bet between the two of us we save $1000/month not having to commute..... plus wear and tear on the cars.

Not me, a car is meant to be driven.  I would sell a vehicle if I wasn't putting 10-15k a year on it!

Not to mention the value of life not spent commuting. My 'must have' for moving to the GTA is no commute...or at least a minimal one...as in walking distance.

Take commuting out of it with 3 vehicles to drive and 10-15 is just fine. 90% of my driving is fun.

Commuting can be vague.  I don't commute to work.  But I do run errands, visit people.  So that is pleasure driving.  So I fill up each vehicle at least every 10 days.

We don't use our car to commute to work as we take transit or ride a bike yet still manage to average 25,000 kms a year in drivng.

We're filling up one of the cars each week.

We both drive to work. He drives farther but sometimes I drive to Toronto, Hamilton, etc.

Then we come home and take a car out and drive the countryside. Weekdays, weekends.

Then we make excuses to go get things, and then take the long way home. "Oops, we don't have any butter left", "Hey, there's a sale on toilet paper", "Hon, do you feel like getting an ice cream cone?"

We realized we don't spend much on entertainment, or clothes...... so we decreased the budget for those and upped the one for gas.  :rofl2:

I've put 15K on my CLA already, driving is not a fun thing when you're forced to do it.

No :censor:....I am in a similar boat. I average 50-55K a year, 90% of that is commuting, often in ridiculously heavy traffic and/or ungodly hours of the morning. Young and trying to push forward my career...so I'm dealing with it, but I absolutely cannot do this forever.

Last Tuesday when I picked up the Mazda3.  372 km later, still 3/8ths of a tank left.

Once you have a family, you will want to change that situation.  I know I sure did.

Not that my commute was arduous (open highway all the way), but at best I would have a 40-min commute each way.

Now that I live so close to work (and bike to work most days) I have a 5-minute commute in the morning (more time spent in bed), I get to come home to eat lunch and see my wife and daughter for an hour (YAY), and then a 5-minute commute (more time spent with my daughter).  I'm home by 4:05 every afternoon.

Quality of life now is so much better.  We have a smaller house with much less space than before (we were renting, now we own), but the lack of a commute just makes everything much, much better.
