Price of 9998$ and EPA or NRC gas mileage are both legal fraud. The worst propaganda for a consumer society.

I would never spend 1000 for an automatic for a car like this.
For some, that's the only way that it CAN be purchased.  You can't change North American perceptions/preferences, certainly not any time soon.

The biggest percentage of manuals will be sold in Quebec.

That's changing too. Demand for manuals here in the land of poutine is going the way of non-"smart" cell phones.

I think with the adjustment on the new 5 cycle format testing for the 2015 models will solve most of that problem.  The tester in the article said he average 6.1 over the course of a week and the new NRC test figures are 8.6 city and 6.6 highway, so sounds pretty realistic but there will always be someone to complain no matter what they do.  :D

Just an FYI, I'm averaging 7.5 right now with my brand new Civic (stick) about a 50/50 split of highway/city but the car is only 250kms old so a little premature to judge. Still I'll take the mileage hit for the extra size and features.
My other Honda is an MP4-31!

and just FYI, the 2015 NRC 5-cycle rating gives your model a figure of 8.5 highway and 6.6 city, which would equal 7.5 combined  ;D

That is super interesting! Who would have thunk that someone would actually ever hit those MPG ratings! :)

They didn't hit the MPG ratings.  They hit the L/km ratings!  :P

I can confirm it can go 160km/h but it takes a LONG time to get there and that's about max speed.

You are thinking too much the bicycle quip was just a way of saying the car is slow.  Glad you like slow cars, someone should.  But after driving a M235 then a WRX then an STI and having near 400hp on tap on my own vehicle, living with less is difficult.

The car travels at the same speed as all of the other's. It is not a slow car at all as far as I am concerned.
Since even pick-ups are using compact shifters...rotary knobs and such...why a large lever in the middle of the front seats here. You just put it into 'D' to go and 'P' when you get there with maybe a little 'R' from time to time. The space where the whacking lever goes could well be better used for a storage compartment.
It's only a small car...somewhere between a Spark and an Accent in size...so space is at a premium and the current location of the shift lever was only ever there to simulate a stick shift in 'automatic' muscle cars. As you say...a slow car...what's the point here?
For all of the rhetoric I get the impression that you find a lot to like here.

So far at about 3000 km mileage. The dash reading overall average is 44 MPG converted to meaningful numbers.
This is a great number I think since most of the driving (we don't do much) has been shopping in the city...with one 200km highway trip. And no, not driving around slowly....'spirited' is the word. Well, as much spirit as can be mustered these days. We won't be in the Micra race series though.
Since we have kept a record of odo reading versus fill ups I can check the overall average this way too. I will add this later.

Not bad - 6.4 L/100km if your gallons are of the larger volume.
