thanks Solstice!

but i'd rather buy a regular Sierra than an Avalanche.   I don't care for that design.  I know it's similar to the Ridgeline and the only reason I'd live with it as the RL is because, well it's a Honda   ;)

that racking setup is interesting.  part of me feels like you might as well just have them on top of an SUV / Wagon but part of me sees it's a great way to still be able to make use to the box.

--------

I'm not sure if I'll have time this weekend, but I'd like to keep road testing.
Since we have to visit the dealership for the Fiat's issue, while we're there I want to finally take the Cherokee for a spin.
I'm also going to tell me what i'm looking for, why and ask what RAM they suggest.  (I'll go do this with Ford and GM too)
Just so I can say I've given them a chance.    I'll also check out a Venza at some point.

I'm going to be playing with my dad's RL again soon because I have to get some dirt.  While I have it, I'll be looking at a few racking options.

Your hilarious buddy, only considering the RL because it's a Honda.  But at the same time your looking at the domestic trucks, and the Cherokee.  I can see not liking the design for either, but you don't like the design of the RL, but it's ok, it's a Honda... I would feel quite comfortable with domestic pickups, it's what they do best.

i know!

although I'm just going to take a peak at the domestics.  I don't expect to ever buy a 1/2 ton truck.
the Jeep is something that surprises me.   I've never considered a Jeep product but as I've mentioned before the Cherokee really impresses me with it's overall package.  I'm trying not to be biased and give other vehicles a chance.

as for the RL just being a Honda... well it's hard to argue that.   I don't know a single person who voiced any issues with the RL.  While the domestics can't claim the same.  People certainly love their trucks but many of them have issues.   But the main reason I'm not interested is just the size.   But who knows, maybe I'll test one and love it?

Not sure why you discard the Volvo on reliability. I've had a number of them and they all have been quite reliable.

He probably read this post.  :rofl2:

On the SUV side....How about the Volvo XC60 T6 or R_Design? A little cheaper than the Macan and I've read its quite nice.
Why bother?  Horribly outdated, but not offering crazy sales yet - powertrain is soon to be replaced...I wouldn't recommend a Volvo to anyone yet until Volvo 'finds' itself.

it's not discarded.   it's just lower on the list of probability.  Sir O showed the consumer reports chart (which I've saved - thank you)   Reliability is only a minor concern.   More importantly is:
- dealer location (it's about an hour away)
- price.
- availability for CPO models are very slim.

I would strongly consider the XC60 if I had the budget you are working with.  How often would you need to go to the dealer?  I suspect CPO will increase on the XC60 as time passes.  Also, you could mention to it a broker or salesman, exactly what your looking for, the budget, trim, and he calls you when one comes in...

Seems to meet your needs, sunroof, leather, tows 4400lbs with the nice T6.  Pretty close to budget, and good interest rates..

man that's a nice car too!
if $44K was the all in price it would be close to the buget.

but you're right, something to keep an eye out for.

well that's where a car broker comes in handy... or your negotiating skills.  With the way Volvo is doing, I am sure there is some wiggling room.

The XC60 and S60 have been out for a few years now, don't know of any major issues that would indicate worse than average reliability?

I guess the guy with the p1800 with over 2.7 million kms should stuck with Toyota...

Appears to be worse than average by this:

That's nameplate only, I am talking vehicle specific.  The XC90 isn't reliable, that would affect the rating quite a bit.

There's some brands below industry average that some are speaking highly of and if I went only by this list, would never consider Jeep, RAM, Audi, Hyundai, Ford, VW

as mentioned early, Sir O did put up a list on the XC70 which someone said it was above average.

Artic Steve, considering doesn't mean I bought it yet.
How would considered a Q5, F150, Santa Fe, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, VW Golf be any different than say the XC70 or XC60  ???

Outback 2015
I'm very much looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.  It also helps that we finally have Subaru back in Niagara.  (when I had mine, I had to go into Hamilton).

Ive found tons of very well equipped 1/2 tons around here for under $40K. Crew cabs, 4x4, V8, towing package......A well equipped crew cab Tacoma or a decently equipped RL easily goes for about that. The 1/2 tons will give you same or better mileage, way more options when it comes to towing/hauling and way more space inside.
Lighten up Francis.....
