Biggest let down from Acura yet.

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/04/16/2015-acura-tlx-new-york-2014/

I guess I'll be holding on to my 13 Accord.

Its OK. Nothing to get excited about, but it should increase Acura's sales.

I don't know, looks better than the recent offerings from Lexus and Infiniti IMO.

Perhaps my opinion will change once I see it in person.

I liked it.  But I liked the "old" TL too.  Love the headlights.

Doesn't move me at all. Whatever spark the concept had was completely lost in this production version.

Eh I kind of like it. I don't think its that bland, there's enough detailing in there to be interesting.

Pretty boring.  Sad that we've come to a time where you get more interesting styling in a Camry than in an Acura.

I hope they are going to offer different rims then what was shown.  Those are hideous.  Also wouldn't want to clean them. UGH.

IMO, the last thing you do when you need your mainstream sedan to sell better is to do a polarizing design. It didn't work last time.

This is true. Although BMW still managed to sell tons of E90s and E60s on the account of brand power, a level of power that Acura does not hold.

This is an interesting model merge. Its like the 4cyl FWD version is the new TSX, and the 6cyl AWD version is the new TL. A lot of the TL's size was overhang so I suspect this will be pretty much the same interior space.

Too bad the ILX is crummy though. It looks fine but neither the powertrain nor the interior are anything more than disappointing for a small $31k car.

I think that's my biggest issue with this TLX as well.  I really liked the concept, and the production version isn't very different - except the wheels.  But there will probably be multiple wheel sizes/options, so it likely won't be much of an issue.

I find it interesting how the "right" set of rims can be so important to some people (like me), and others (like my wife) couldn't care less.

Don't get the hate.

A toned down smart looking car. Every time a manufacturer does something outside the box and exciting people groan about it being ugly (Lexus, Acura beak, Nissan) and when they do a handsome simple design it's too boring.

Thought it looked good at the autoshow and think it looks good now. Toned down styling in combination with Acura value and reliability will move units. Interior looks pretty good.

IMO, the last thing you do when you need your mainstream sedan to sell better is to do a polarizing design. It didn't work last time.

It's not a particularly dynamic design - so it doesn't surprise me that some are underwhelmed by the aesthetics.  And toning down is one thing, but the choices for the Acura design team were surely not so stark as between crafting a bionic origami chicken, or else a slightly squinty-eyed Accord.  I would have preffered something closer to the middle of those points.

I'm not really seeing handsome here - just safe and conservative.  Far from ugly, but pretty forgettable.  Which I can already get in an Accord for considerably less $$.

Again, I think it's a step in the right direction design wise.

Agreed. I look it looks just fine! Better than before, and would make me consider a TLX (with AWD).

On paper even I would be tempted by a TLX for a commuter, in spite of my historical love/hate relationship with the brand and the dealer service. :)

The 2.4L with 8sp DSG doesn't sound half bad either. With less weight and less driveline loss to work around...

I had a 2004 tsx.  They pretty much nailed it with that car, then they decided that they got all fussy with the exterior design and add weight.  Ugh.  It's never turned back.  Same old engines but bigger and more weight and the new design language is tediously anonymous.  derivative?

The original TSX was ridiculously spot-on in pretty much every respect.  And a delight to drive - particularly with the stick.  That car screamed "Honda" - and I mean that in a good way.

Agree with both of these statements.  I don't find the design offensive in any way, but it's definitely meh at best.  Another face only a mother could love... :P   Lexus seems to be doing much better in the sporting sedan segment than acura in the last few years IMO.  Hopefully the new NSX will re-inject some Vigor back into the brand...  ;D

I give Mr Weston applause for his "bland-new" comment...

It's almost like after 25 years they are still trying to find their footing and direction.

I too think the 04 TSX was a very nice design.  Very clean and when I see one on the road today they have aged very well.  Honda does well with simple designs.  The new Accord is very, very nice and I think one reason is the relative uncluttered look and lack of "trying hard" details.

Ridicurous  ;D
