2008 Sonata - the driver window goes down and then starts to grind...

This just started happening.  I won't change putting the window past 1/2 way because it starts to grind.  Anyone know what could cause this?  Not sure if this is something I want to attempt to fix or bring it to the dealer.

Take door panel off and observe.  Most likely window regulator is shot.

How many KM on vehicle?

Shot regulator or a loose bolt. I recently replaced the regulator and motor assembly in my Sienna, it's a pretty easy job once you get the interior door panel off.

Thanks for the quick replies.  I was thinking about taking off the panel this weekend, but having never done it before I didn't want to make a mess of things.  I am unsure why it goes down about 3/4 of the way and then starts to grind.  I don't know much about regulators - does that sounds like something they would do?

For sure.  Not the easiest things to change.  Very vehicle specific.

You need a used one.
