teaser #2, will have the 3.3L V6 engine, to be announced at the NY Auto Show in a weeks time

Looks good. What trim level will have 22" boots?  ;)
3.3L is what Santa Fe XL is using. It is DI. Smart choice for a van with cargo and towing to be assumed.

Too much chrome on the outside... They've made it less practical.  Why a floor shifter?  High Beltline!

I don't know that I've ever typed this phrase before, but that's a very handsome minivan.

nothing much to update at present on this vehicle but did notice this with regards production in July  as its not looking good for availability of the all new Sedona for export as only 5 units were build for July (only 2 in June), so they still haven't got production going for the new model. If they get going in August, then it would be mid-late September at the very earliest before you would see any product at dealers in North America.

However, on the domestic front the production has increased dramatically over June to 9,339 (June was 4,238) which is a staggering amount in comparison to previous years. I checked in 2013 and the highest volume for a single month was 4,283 in July, average is usually around 2-3 thousand a month. Even going back to 2012, where the highest volume for a single month, which was in June at 2,979.

The Sedona is built in Korea?

yes, the same plant that builds the K900 and Rio.  Did you think it was built somewhere else?

I thought maybe at the Hyundai plant in the States. Sienna and Odyssey are built in the States. Mine was built in Canada.

Korean auto tastes are very similar to North America's though so makes sense. The Sienna and Odyssey are only sold in North America.

But the Asians have been making cars here for a long time.  KIA is just recently taking off, so they are building one in NA soon.

KIA has a plant in West Point, Georgia (opened in Nov 2009, 360,000 units per year, built 1m units in July last year) where they build the Optima and Sorento and also the Santa Fe.  Unfortunately the plant is running at maximum capacity even though its already had one expansion - a common problem for KIA - just not enough production capacity.

the Odyssey is built in Lincoln, Alabama and the Sienna in Princeton, Indiana.  The Hyundai plant is located in Montgomery, Alabama where they build the Sonata and Elantra.

I agree with the less practical.  Having has the Sienna for 7 years having the ability to have a pass-thorough for people from the front to the back as great (ours had the folding table between the seats).  Maybe this interior trim is for a higher level?  And I really dislike the trend to highbeltlines.

production on this new model for export started in August, so we should possibly see some arriving at dealers by the end of September to mid-October depending where you are located in Canada.
