Yeah I know, I suspect this had to with the ongoing interest in trucks.  All the redesigns of the other models, now the midsizes, Honda probably figures if they redesign it, they might get a piece of the pie.  Problem is, they should have done this 1 year ago, at least.

They really need to do it right, a non offensive design, and cylinder deactivation.  We won't get a diesel from Honda, so I won't even ask....

I think it's only around because Honda of America wants a pickup. Japan likely would have killed it.

With a unibody pickup, they're stuck with the flying buttress c-pillars. The rest of it they could modernize. Up until now, it really hasn't had a fuel economy advantage over full size pickups. With traditional pickups getting more fuel efficient, it's going to get squeezed even harder. The new GM mid-sizers aren't going to help.

I think it's in a tough spot.

The flying buttress will be gone according to this. The pic doesn't show much but it reveals a more conventional design:

Missing link?
The flying buttress was used because a 90° angle at the cab/bed interface would have been subjected to a lot of stress and cracked. The unibody F100s had this issue.
They must have figured out a better way of distributing the forces.

Edit. It looks like they're ditching the unibody.

The sketch shows the direction that Honda is planning for its new truck, which appears to ditch the single-piece body in favor of a more conventional pickup truck design

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

The flying buttress will be gone....

Thank god! I hate those things!

What I'm really interested in is the pricing of the Taco, vs GM vs Honda.

i went on the GM.ca website to have a peak, and noticed the upcoming Camaro Z28.

i didn't view it's entire specs, but "Starting at $77,400"?!  WTF? ???

since when does the "upper trim" Camaro start at about $25k MORE than a Vette?

yea, i guess so...before, it just used to be the upper trim though...like a $5k upgrade for the T-tops, side effects, shaker hood and upgraded rims.
