PS. In regards to the Merlin V-12s, there is a video on youtube somewhere of a guy in Australia who put one into a custom '57 (?) chevy  :o

That XKR was one of my absolute favourites I drove last year mostly because of the sound.

It has been trumped today.  I picked up the F-Type V8S this morning.  The Lord (of car sounds) has spoken... and she has a feral roar!  I shall spend a lot on fuel this week I reckon.

I know it's super expensive, but the Lexus LFA is unbeatable with that high revving V10 scream...

The Jaguar XKR's sound is particularly wonderful when you're flying up White Face Mountain in Lake Placid, NY with the top down.

You had better have a GoPro!!  If not, now's the time to invest.  Do it!!

GoPro is garbage for audio.  Thinkin' a small digital recorder.

Audi RS and Mercedes-Benz AMG divisions have exhaust acoustics nailed.
hey Snowman...my boss just took delivery of his new car...a 2014 Audi RS5 Convertible...OMGFGC...what a masterpiece of beauty, filled to the rim with epic amounts of haul ass.

 Awesome ride. I have looked at two at the local Audi dealer and dealer offered me what I paid for my TTRS as a trade. The $7k ceramic brake option killed the deal  :P

sorry to resurrect, but I heard one of these the other day scream by at full chat. It is almost December, she should be sleeping in a nice warm garage!

The exhaust note was bowel loosening and pant wetting. I want one of these cars so bad just for that exhaust. It puts the Jag F-Type I heard in the summer to shame, honest.

Saving my pennies for one, they are apparently fairly cheap now, and reliable to boot other than clutches on the DCT.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

The GranSport does indeed have an amazing exhaust note, and is becoming quite affordable, but reliable they are not. The Cambiocorsa F1 transmission is nowhere near reliable, and they're horribly pricey to repair when clutches do go bad. They're cheap for a reason...

Plus most every review I've read say the transmission is awful to drive and behaves erratically.

that is why I said OTHER than the transmission. A few grand every 20k isn't bad for a summer ride for me, when I put maybe 4k on it in a year max. That is a change what...every 5 or so years? Not bad when you think of it that way. Not a daily driver. And other than the clutch, they are rock solid.

And as for the bad to drive part, apparently the GS is much better than the old coupe or the QP, from what I read. And can be made twin clutch fast with a chip from Formula Dynamics.

Typical Italian though, take the amazing with a little temper tantrum now and then...
