For Sale: 2005 Mazda3 GT Sedan 2.3L, Automatic
« on: June 10, 2013, 12:13:38 am »
The time has come to part away with my Mazda3 after 8 years of reliable and enjoyable ownership so I'm looking for a good home for “her”.

I'm the original owner, no accidents, never smoked in the car, no pets so the car is extremely clean inside. Rust proofed from new, re-coated and touched up every year so the body is in very good shape. Mechanically it’s in top notch condition as well and it drives absolutely great; it was rigorously maintained and repaired at the dealership, with Mazda parts only.

Over the past year or so I replaced the brakes - front and rear (rotors and pads), parking brake, battery, spark plugs, tires, steering and brake fluids. In addition to the wear and tear items, I also replaced few other parts including trunk harness, thermostat sensor, radiator fan and windshield- all new OEM parts replaced at the dealership.

Details of the car:

Model: 2005 Mazda3 GT Sedan
Engine: 2.3L, 4-cylinder
Transmission: Automatic w/manual shift
Exterior: Carbon Grey Mica
Interior: black/blue premium cloth
GT trim features: fog lights, 16” alloy wheels, electroluminescent gauges with blue back-light, rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off lights, 6-speakers audio.

Odo: 143,xxx km
Purchased: April 2005
Location: Toronto Greater Area

Asking: $6,290

I will sell the car emission tested and safety certified. It comes with a set of used winter tires on steel rims (7-8 32nd tread left).

If interested please PM me.

Good luck on the sale!

Quick question - you sure it has the 16" wheels? I'm 99.9% sure that the GT came with 17s for 05-06... I had one myself.

Thanks.

17" was part of the GFX package available on GT trim - which I don't have. Standard GT came with 16".

Ah! That's right. I forgot about the GFX package.

You probably mentioned it before, but what are you getting?  A CUV or something?

Nope. Just a 2013 Focus.

Ahh, traitor!  Not going to wait for the new Mazda3? What do you like more about the Focus?  Just curious.  I was thinking of a joking smite, but you have over 4000 posts, and only 3 applauds/smites, that's amazing!

Still love Mazda and it took me over a year to part with mine since as old as it is, it drives nicer than most new compacts on the road (peppy, transmission programmed for driving not fuel economy, steering feel, handling), it's been reliable and to me still good looking (not to mentioned paid for long time ago). However, tech-wise is long in the tooth and behind the times so it was time for something new.
Now, the current Mazda3 never did it for me and the MK7 Golf, the other contender, is not here either. Mazda3 will be here in the fall but I'm yet to see the real car although spy-shots and info are promising.
On the other hand I really liked the Focus (design, driving dynamics, tech) and I think it is now "mature" enough to get one.  The only thing I'm not sold on is build quality, but I keep my fingers crossed. As for reliability, it's still early to say but it's a lease and the lease period equals the warranty so I hope to be fine from that perspective.
In 3 years the new Mazda3 and the Golf will be "fully baked” so,  in case I stick with this segment, chances are I will be driving a Mazda3 again (I also looked at BMW/Audi but I decided against this time around). I'll see what happenes in 3 years.

Got ya, I understand the Mazda old powertrain was long in the tooth.  But the Skyactiv is up to date now.  I bet the next one will have the 2.0L and 2.5L Skyactiv.  I bet the Focus reliability will be pretty good, the previous generation was above average.  I personally don't like the tech stuff in the Fords.  Too busy for me, hard to package what you want without getting those things...

I lived with MFT for two weeks while driving a Focus and an Escape, I liked it and I wanted it on my car. I liked it more than other systems in the cars I drove (Hyundai, VW, Buick, Subaru, Acura, etc.).

I was able to get the car equipped as I wanted - odd combination that the dealers don't usually have in the lot, so I ended up factory ordering. I got a Titanium hatch with cloth, navi and handling package. Most Titaniums come with leather and sunroof ($1500 package) which I did not want.

I'm not crazy about MFT, even less so about the screen's smudgy fingerprint marks, but after the initial adjustment it works well for me. Still think Chrysler's 8.4" Uconnect system is the most intuitive on the market though.

Congrats on the new Focus! Really love that Ford offers so much choice in their packages and options- I'd want a Titanium with cloth too, plus a roof ;)
What colour'd you spring for?

Congratulations! That sounds pretty close to how I'd want it optioned too.

Congrats on the sale and purchase.  I'd be down with a Focus Wagon if they would bring it here.

What's the handling package?

Congrats. Huge fan of the new Focus.

Congrats. Huge fan of the new Focus.

Handling package includes 5-spoke 18" wheels and sport suspension for $400 extra. The drawback for this package is the turning radius which is noticeably bigger. When I balanced the pros and cons, I went for it. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I went for Platinum White. I wanted the Yellow Blaze from last year, but they dropped it for 2013. White was the next choice. It’s a pearl white not the regular plain white (that is called Oxford White) and it looks pretty good so I’m happy. Taking delivery tonight so I’ll see.
