So you are saying your old potenzas were basically slicks  :rofl2: ;)

Yes, and they were awesome! Not so much in the rain, though.  :shuffle:

How new? Right out of the gate I didn't think my Conti DW were great, but after a bit, the Porsche loved them!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Brand new. Think I put 250 kms on them today. And I need to play with tire pressure, too. Shop only put in 32psi, while I usually run the recommended 35psi.

And I was also surprised to find that the ExtremeWinterContacts I took off still have 7/32" left. I thought they were more worn, but looks like I'll get another winter out of them. They've got 38,000 kms on them now.

And I finally got the new summer tires on (Continental ExtremeContact DW). Some quick first impressions for quad: smooth and quiet with a good ride, but soft turn-in and vague feel. On an on-ramp I know well, the tires needed a bunch of little corrections and never really let me know what they were doing. On that same ramp, my old Bridgestone Potenza RE760s were rock solid: just turn the wheel and leave it there, and the car kept a perfect line. Of course, the Contis are brand new, and I'm remembering the Potenzas from last fall with only 2/32" tread...

Nice rims!  Are they much lighter than OEM?

Don't fight it.  The sooner you get it the better.

Yeah, about 8 lbs lighter per wheel. And each wheel came with a little tag that showed its actual weight. I though that was cool!

Thanks for the update, hopefully after a few more km's they will feel better.

Not a bad day filled with car stuff.

Helped my dad install the engine and transmission into his 1948 MGTC chassis. He's been doing a full nut & bolt resto on it over the last 13 years and it's finally nearing completion - very exciting as I've watched this car evolve since I was just a little kid. He's very meticulous and this car is being done to a ridiculous level of detail - in person it looks like a piece of art:

Then I finally finished the brakes on the the Spitfire and took it for it's maiden voyage - what a great feeling to have all that work and all those pieces come together into something that actually moves and stops on it's own after being immobile for lord knows how many years. Car still needs tons of work, but at least now I can move it around and it's not blocking everything in the driveway.

Then came the :censor: part...With the Spitfire finally out of the way, I dropped a battery in the Sonoma, which has been hibernating since October. I just wanted to move it out of the garage so I could clean up under it and get the Firebird's summer wheels out from above the Sonoma. It started up and ran perfectly, but sounded a little louder than I remembered. Checked underneath and one of the big bolts on the exhaust flange at the back of the Cat had broken away, I assume it was rusty and when I started the truck the vibration snapped it - strange, but all I can really think of. It looked like an easy fix, just replace with a new bolt and nut. However, 1/2 of the broken bolt is still in there and after 4 hours of drilling, and about 10 drill bits, I am only about 1/4 of the way through the old bolt. I gave up for the night - gunna have to think of some other way to remove it - Can't believe this really..finally got the Spitfire moving and was excited to take a break from the car repairs, literally minutes later I am into this problem.

Will do! It's probably going to be another year or so before the car is completely together again. The body and wooden frame pieces are currently at a coachbuilder being redone. Then they've gotta be test fitted to the chassis, then taken back off and painted before finally being re-fitted.

Very cool and can't wait to see it!  I'm just curious as to what kind of wood they use for the frame pieces?

I believe it's Ash, it's used for the structure of the body, and then the floors are plywood.

I figured it would be ash.  Same qualities that makes it good for axe and other tool handles.
