Got the oils changed (diff, transfer case, transmission), replaced brake pads and tires balanced on the Tundra.

What did the tranny fluid change run you if you don't mind me asking?  Did they drop the pan or how do they perform the change?

I paid for fluid only, my brother did all the work.
No need to drop the pan, but the tranny procedure is a wild one because it has no dipstick, it looks like this:
- drain it first (drain plug),
- put in 4L of trans oil through the fill plug,
- put trans into temp sensing mode: short two pins on OBDII connector (4-13 I think), start the truck, move gear lever to D and keep switching from D to N until "D" light cams on for 2 sec and turns off, put trans in P and wait for "D" light to come on again - this means the trans oil is between 36-46C (again, I think that's the range),
- if "D" light starts flashing the temp is above 46C - too hot,
- open overfill plug on the trans - this will remove the excess oil - until the oil trickles down, close the plug,
- that's it. Easy eh?

I think I've got all the steps, google it to make sure if you'd like to do it yourself.  I'm sure the dealer can simply connect the truck to the diagnostic comp and read the temp instead.

That still doesn't get all the dirty fluid out of the torque converter and all the lines, does it?

I think it does not, we got only just under 4L out of the tranny. But this was the procedure given by Toyota, so I'm hoping they know what are they doing :)

There's still at least as much old fluid in the tranny then. No access point/drain plug for the converter by chance?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Made it boost a certain someone's G37S that decided to kill its battery in revenge for its owner abandoning it while he spent two weeks in sunny Cancun...
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

Never mind what you did to your car today, is there an addition in your family?

Cleaned the interior of the Baby Miata after a long winter. I forgot to take pics but I wanted to mention that I bought this about a year ago on Spock's recommendation and have been good use of it for the cars and the house.

I believe he has the original 'green machine'.

Then we took her for a drive in the countryside.  ;D

Is that a steamer?  I've been thinking of getting one as they are invaluable for cleaning carpets.  Works well?

Put the bike carrier on. A job that should take only 15 minutes took 45 minutes. :banghead:

I have one...It's not a steamer. Truthfully, some top shelf automotive carpet cleaner like DP and a plain old shop vac works better

I would rather use steam than some chemical spray.

Top shelf chemical is safe though. But steam is nice...But usually expensive.

Not a steamer but the model I have - the ProHeat one - heats the liquid and it seems to work well.

My sense is that it works well for the price. I think I got it for around $70.

EDIT:
- What I like about it: You can spray the heated liquid detergent onto the carpet (as much as you want) and then brush it in as much as you want. (I like being able to work it in with lots of liquid and heat.) Then you can suck the carpet dry with the suction in the turbo brush. The machine is also well designed and easy to clean (including the brushes)
- What isn't practical about it: You need smaller brushes for the crevices/ smaller areas.

Does anyone know of a high quality steamer that isn't too expensive?

No...But I suppose one needs to define "expensive"

Sounds the same as a shop vac with a squirt bottle of hot water.

Not more than $500? I'm thinking a good steamer could be used to clean a lot of things (windows, appliances, bathrooms, etc.) I'd be willing to pay $500.

Maybe I don't know enough about cleaning or steamers.  But windows and steamers?  The pros use a mild detergent, and a good quality squeegee.  I can see for appliances, as the stuff can get caked on... Bathrooms I guess for the ceramic tile/tub area...
