New pads and rotors on the back of the Forester yesterday. Those rotors did not want to come off. I was surprised to see how little of the pads were left.  Serviced the calipers, everything is sliding much better now.

That's quite a DIY job!

putting on the new exhaust system

can anyone figure out what this line is going to my cat? I want to replace my cat, but the new one does not have a hole for this line. It goes to the body under the back seat?

it isn't an 02, as my car only has one lambda before the cat.

my mech was guessing it was a hot air injection, to get the cat really hot fast for emissions.

plausible?

I think it's some sort of air tube, not sure if it would be hot air or not.

It definitely isn't a sensor, as that would just be a wire running to the ECU.

Heater/warm air line would be my guess too...An attempt to get the cat hotter faster so it works at peak efficiency.

Another guess, since it is going toward the back of the vehicle would be some type of EVAP system for the gas tank? Gasoline fumes being directed to the cat to be cleaned up prior to being sent to the atmosphere?

Maybe pull it out of the cat and see if there's hot air blowing out of it?

tiewrap 02 sensor on the frame, see what happens.  It's a rear O2 won't affect anything but maybe you'll get a light, maybe not.

Working at Parks & Rec today.  30C and cloudless.  So, took the Miata.  It's a 15-20min drive.  Left 90 min early.

I look at the car every day, neighbor has the same car, same color.  Washes it about once a week.  When you wash it, does it beep like crazy?

Funny you should ask, when I first got it I had the FOB in my pocket while washing it and the car would lock/unlock itself every couple of seconds and the lights would be flashing non-stop...maybe beeping too. I figure it was the hot water or me touching the proximity lock sensors on the door handles...was a freaking ridiculous light show. Leaving the FOB in the car eliminates the problem.

^ I think my neighbor forgets to do that, or has a fear of locking the keys, or forgetting where they are.

Whoa, no wonder why you were upset when you saw that on your brand new baby. Glad they fixed it!

We were down to one key per vehicle so while I was at Canadian Tire I had two new keys made.  That's $225 I could have put to better use.

The truck is a 2001 and has a chip key. I was seriously unimpressed.

Canadian tire can make chip keys?

I like having 3 keys per car, but when inquiring for the focus it appears they're special, laser-cut keys that cost $300 a piece  ::) ... I've put the purchase off thus far and it may stay that way
