You know the automotive end is nigh when you click on the link for a new truck website, and the first details that come up are:

TECH TALK (link up)
blah blah blah

and then

Always On(line)
blah blah blah

Then the interior is mentioned, before finally getting to the powertrain options.  If infotainment is the primary factor driving truck purchases now, well, Fob's gonna be crying all over his keyboard...

BTW, I really like what I've seen of the Colorado - a lot more than the GMC version for some reason.

Why does anyone give a crap about the bluetooth over how much it can tow and haul.....

Lighten up Francis.....

why can't someone have a good truck AND all the great features / creature comforts an SUV or premium vehicle has.

I don't ask for much but along with specific capabilities, I'd like my next vehicle to have the following:
- sunroof
- leather, heated seats
- back up camera and while not really an infortainment system per say but a very good stereo with USB / Media interface so I can control all the music on my i-pod from the stereo.

Because that's the reality of the mid size truck market, this is aimed at people who use their truck as a daily driver and haul crap to the dump, mountain bikes, dirt bikes, etc. I personally can't stand driving full size trucks.

I'll be in the market in the fall and will give a hard look at a double cab V6. Hopefully the prices are reasonable.

I wonder why GM is using the 3.6 and not the 4.3

From the pictures at least. it looks like it is approaching the dimensions of full-size trucks of not too long ago.

Yup. I'd really like to see a picture of one parked next to a 1988 Silverado for comparison.

Drove by the local Chevy dealer this morning and they had a long bed crew cab Colorado parked out front in that very nice green color. Looked great!

good to hear they finally hit the dealers.  I'm curious to check it out.
I did get a chance to see it at the Auto Show but they wouldn't let anyone inside.
It looks good but IMO - as good as the Taco  ;) (I don't think one looks overly nicer than the other)

I am driving one this week; a Canyon Crew Cab long box SLE. I'll put together some more complete thoughts later, but I am really impressed with the way this thing drives and rides, very refined. The looks are not doing much for me, the front is nice but the rest looks like cheap Taco to me. Not 100% sold on the overall value proposition yet either, and I still wish it were smaller.

"the rest" meaning the interior?

is it just me or is there no back window in the one you're driving?

I'm not big on the Canyon looks (exterior) but don't mind the Colorado

No, by "the rest" I meant the exterior from the front doors back, especially the bed and tail lights.
The interior is actually pretty nice, very much like a mini version of a GM fullsizer. Excellent comfortable driving position, great visibility & ergonomics. Rear leg room seems a bit tight though and my tester doesn't have heated seats which is pretty annoying this time of year (especially a $37k).

Oh, and the back window is fine in the test truck, must just be the picture....just a solid rear window (no slider), which I don't mind, I rarely use sliders because they tend to suck dirt into the interior.

Agreed.  It looks like it stole the wheel arches from its older brother.
