^That's hot.  :o

Thats their Trailhawk concept, think Rubicon package. But even the run of the mill version still looks pretty good, even with the low profile, chrome rims  :hurl: I think its a good looking SUV.

Lighten up Francis.....

The design in WAY ahead of its time... it MIGHT be a decent looking car in... 2000 years.

It's growing on me actually.

How many rows of lights is that?  I see the fog lights at the bottom, then headlights in the middle, whats on the hood?  Daytime running lights?

I have no idea how they came up with this design....its atrocious. The hood lights are marker/turning signals, middle-headlights, bottom row- fog lights.....WHY?!?!?!?!

Yeah daytime running lights and turn signals I think. It seems to be a bit of a trend.

I liked my '01 Cherokee better :P.  Not sure about the front end.  Front end styling has turned me off a number of recent Jeeps - including the outgoing Liberty.

As bad as the front end styling is, the back is worse... So weird with the very high black plastic bumper, although I imagine that practically, it's probably cheaper to replace.

I agree.  The back is horrid.

There seems to be a tie in with all those lights:

“Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!”

Read somewhere that it was meant to be an Alfa-Romeo, then "Jeeped" at the last minute. That explains a lot.

That was the Wall Street Journal that started that story. It doesn't appear to be true.

Pretty typical of most WSJ stories these days.

Oh man...that makes it even worse....I wouldnt spread around that this creature was designed in Detroit. The Italians not getting what Jeeps are about, I could see it, when an American makes this kind of mistake...wow.

I've been looking at the photos some more and I'm thinking it's not all that bad. It looks decent from the side and the back is OK. I think my only major gripe would be the slitty eyed signal lights on the top for the front fenders. Not sure if i could get used to that!  :-\
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

The Cherokee mules were jacked-up Alfa Romeos, à la AMC Eagle, and often seen around Detroit and in car mags. Maybe that where the WSJ picked-up the idea.

In related news, that Alfa is WAY better-looking than the Dart. Wish we had received the original.  Dart is dead around Montreal, unless the dealers aren't getting any. Think I saw 3 so far.

I think that's pretty pausible.

The Giulietta would have worked in Canada, but it would have been DOA in the US. They don't like hatchbacks, they don't like non-conformist looks and they don't like small cars in general.
