Got a letter from SGI yesterday. The other person finally contacted them and fessed up to the collision. We can now get it repaired without having to worry about recovering the deductible. Everything gets a lot easier now.

Wow...3 weeks, huh?  I guess they took their time contacting SGI, eh?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

She didn't want to go through insurance, but I did. I'm guessing she already has a mark or two on her record.

Apparently SGI sent her a couple of letters "strongly encouraging" her to get this settled. From what I understand, it would be a bad idea to pick a fight with SGI.

Sorry to hear of the accident.  Glad to hear that settlement is going fairly well.

It looks like the former Lady O wants to buy Moby. She's the one who picked him out, so that seemed reasonable to me.

Not entirely sure what I'll get. Maybe a Golf TSI, maybe a Fiesta ST, maybe a Wrangler or Colorado.

Maybe an Indian Scout and call it a day.

VW dealer has a white Trendline Passat with manual transmission.

I liked it.

Nice, and with winter tires will be no problem. My daughter drove an Echo in Saskatoon for 6 years with winter tires.

The winter is a bit of a concern, but I'll still be on transit mostly anyway.

The back seat is ridiculous. With the front adjusted for me, NBA players would be able to stretch out in back.

Shifter and clutch work well. The clutch pedal is offset to the right a bit far, but not a big deal.

Everything else seemed well done. Nice seats, nice dash, dual zone climate control, Bluetooth, and cruise control. Hardly a stripper.

The price, finance and lease deals make it a bargain.

Only real complaint is tire noise. The Hankooks seems to be eco specials or something.

I'm pretty sure you forgot to start a "what should I buy thread".   :P
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

I did, last fall. I really liked it also. That TSI engine is a peach. The rest of the car was very well done too.

It was the Golf that brought me into the dealership again. During the course of our discussions, he mentioned this Passat they had on the lot. I looked it over, and really liked it. They seem motivated to move it, which also helps.

I looked at an Accord LX, for comparison. It's better in higher trims. The LX had pretty bad mouse fur seats, that I don't think I could live with.

For whatever reason, the Civic doesn't do it for me. I think it's the noise levels that bother me.

The XV has engine noise, but it's from a pancake four, and that's ok. Road and wind noise are fairly well subdued.

How about this?  ;D

Passat Trendline is a good bargain, indeed. Replace the rim protectors with snow tires, add 17" or 18" summer alloys and voilà!
