"The Mitsubishi Lancer sedan was last redesigned in 2007 and the next generation Lancer isn’t expected until the 2014 model year. Seven years is an unusually long time..."

I liked the look of this when it first came out (we had a 2005 Lancer Sportback at the time).  Still very clean and modern looking today for a 'bread and butter' sedan against the Corolla / Civic of that era IMHO.

Fortune favours the bold!

I think the long list of missing goodies doesn't "betray its aging design", instead it support this obsolete machine. The times when Mitsubishi was main engine player in team with Hyundai and Mercedes Benz (yes MB!) ...are gone. Only the future will show us is Mitsu following Mazda or it'll go after Suzuki...

The real question is: When does Mitsubishi go out of business in North America? Any bets?  Jack

Good conclusion at the end: the value proposition of the Ralliart seems to be so much better than the GT. Mitsu NA engines don't have great output and those CVTs further curtail the fun factor. Proper paddle shifters are non-rotating, although they are not needed in this trim at all.

One thing to remember about Mitsubishi's stellar warranty is that it doesn't apply to models such as the Evolution and Ralliart.  In those cases, it is a more traditional 3YR/60K bumper to bumper and 5YR/100K powertrain.

Can't say much more as this car looks old by design. Mitsu snubbed Canadians by avoiding our market for far to long, then came in late and lackluster.

I agree with above in regards to Mitsu's future here.

Considering that it's a very dated car that never really sold in the volumes of its competitors, there would have to be substantial discounts to remain competitive.

Hard plastics make a car feel cheaper...and at $25k for a CVT/AWC combo, that's a pretty penny.  The Impreza's redesign makes it worth the extra grand for the Limited over the GT AWC.  However, offer me the GT AWC for $2k less than the Impreza, and you may have yourself a deal despite the fuel penalty.  Hmm, now that I think about the fuel differences and a paltry 9 second 0-100km/h run, nah, it'd have to be $5k less than the Impreza.

So CVT only.....that takes it out of the performance import category. Pity, its actually not a bad looking little car.
Lighten up Francis.....

Agreed, I always thought the Lancer was one of the best looking cars in its class when it first came out. 2013 is its sixth model year though and the competition has really progressed dramatically in that time.
