The Nissan Murano isn't the newest crossover on the market, but it is still a stylish, refined vehicle.

The seats certainly won’t draw any complaints

I guess seat comfort is one of the more subjective areas when it comes to cars. When I was shopping in 2011  the seat comfort (or lack there of) in the Murano was a big negative for me. The seat bases felt flat and sort of almost crowned. It felt like you were perched on the seat rather than sitting in it.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Overall a very good introduction article with a useful comparison between this Murano and Ford 2.0 Ecoboost.

After so long with the same basic shape, it's still stands out in a parking lot, certainly stood the test of time.  Wondering what is next.

What is the appeal of the Murano given its price? It doesn't have the utility of the competitors and is priced relatively high. It's lack of cargo is the biggest drawback to me. A Murano vs Tiguan would be an interesting comparison for similar money.

Anecdotally, I have heard nothing but praise for the seats in the Murano. The M-i-L states they are the best she has EVER sat in and she is picky with seats, even has one of those annoying obusform thingys for her seat in the car.

Sporty SUV is all that comes to mind for me.

I really liked it when I drove one back in 2011, but the price/incentive for the SL version I wanted wasn't that great.
Now that the new Pathfinder is larger with lower prices, I wonder how Nissan is doing with these...

Toned down I'm sure, as always.  It will stand out once again.  The disconnect at the rear quarter is interesting.

I think the "platinum" edition is easily the worst value proposition in the Murano line (like most "high end" trims).  Go down to the SV or SL trims and it makes far more sense - VERY well equipped for $35 - 40K.  But Nissan has to stop packaging the navigation in only the top-level trim - I have no use for it, but for those that do this could be a dealbreaker.

ANd while the Murano doesn't have the hugest hatch area, it's still a pretty good size - close to 900L, IIRC.  A Tiguan is a fair bit smaller, for both cargo area (~600L I think) and passenger space.  It's far closer to the Rogue in space, Murano would be similar to the Tuaraeg.  The Murano may not be optimized for practicality (i.e. space), but it's still very functional - especially when compared to its FX or EX cousins from Infiniti!

But I wonder if the new Pathfinder is likely to steal some Murano sales from those folks looking for maximum space.  And if the Rogue is ever redesigned (it's bloody well past due!), there could be pressure from below as well.  Sort of like Ford with the Edge - cannabalized by the Escape from below and the Explorer from above.

I don't think that was quite the intended purpose - but to show that the drivetrain, though refined, is not the most efficient out there (and the importance of torque).

...but what about weight and cd?  The Murano is 3980lbs, the Escape 2.0 turbo (still refusing to call it ___boost) is 3502lbs ('est base' from Ford's website - I love that a production car doesn't have its curb weights established yet...*sigh*).

~400lbs is not an insignificant difference.

One little mistake.  The reviewer was comparing it to the Edge 2.0 Ecoboost, not the Escape.  The Edge obviously is more of a comparable to the Murano, but the 2.0 model is FWD only.

Why this over the much more stylish and practical Pathfinder?? Never liked these since their introduction, kinda of like the Infinity FX series, without the kick ass V8 or swoopy good looks category.
Lighten up Francis.....

:iagree: The Murano is dead, don't wait for a new model.

I rented a Murano once, it was fine and quite comfortable...don't recall sporty though. I think of the Murano as a Lexus RX 350 in training.

I agree with others, it has had staying power.

To my gently critics about Murano/Ford comparison I had on mind fuel economy, most notably real life results. Nothing more.

You do have to wonder though....with the new Pathfinder and the Rogue, does Nissan really need three CUV's?
