Those bastages stopped sending me that catalog
And what's up with the Subaru brochure?

Good eye, Weels.

Indeed, Snowballs, what IS up with the Subie brochure? Is Junior ready for a car already?

His daughter methinks..my guess is Crosstrek... :D

Yep  :)

Our buddy Mark (he came to Tall Pines with the lot of us) swapped in his '04 WRX for a new Crosstrek just last week.  Black stick shift.  He seems very happy with it.

Nice!!

Where's the 997 911?  Surely you can afford a die cast if you won't pull the trigger on the real thing?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

...so none of you guys are into build-your-own scale models?

I re-started the hobby while in college, with high-quality Tamiya kits, and others like Hasegawa, Gunze-sangio and Revell of Germany.

The ultimate scale model kit is probably Pocher's Aventador.

Around 700$ IIRC...

Nice model(s)  ;D

I bought a 1:12 scale Tamiya model (Gilles Villeneuve's 1979 Long Beach GP Ferrari 312 T4) years ago, but I still haven't built it.  Here's one that's built (not by me) - I could never come close to building one this well :(

Just got these two Scalextric models from Spain through eBay.  When I was living in Europe I bought a Carrera 1:32 race set, and have been slowly collecting odd-ball cars to race on it ever since.  The SEAT 1430 (based on FIAT 124) and SEAT Fura (based on FIAT 127) arrived about a week ago.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

I spent a couple hours last night clearing some shelves on an el cheapo bookcase in my office that was full of clutter from when we moved over a year ago now! lol. If time allows this weekend, my intention is to move some of my favorite diecasts from my collection out of my parents house (they'll be glad I am sure) an into my office....I've missed not having a massive amount of car stuff all over the place :D

Pics will follow, my collection skews pretty heavily towards GM muscle cars.

Tamiya kits are so expensive these days. I used to build WW2 kits as a kid but I refuse to pay what they're asking now. We didn't have Scalextric, we had the Aurora slot cars instead.

Got an Aurora AFX racetrack in a box. I have a few neat cars in that setup: BRE 510, early '70s Charger, police car with working lights, a semi, Chevelle Laguna, ...

Since we built the new house in 2006, the hobby has been dormant (that "to-do" list never ends...and SWBO doesn't understand the "time waste"  ::)). However, I sneaked in a few new boxes. Back in college, I had bought Revell of Germany's 1:16 1951 Beetle (one hardtop, one ragtop) and recently ordered a NOS Karmann Ghia sister kit that I sourced in .... Holland. New 15 y.o. box sealed from a toy store! Was actually half price of the other ones. I also added Tamiya's Beetle and K-Ghia in 1:25.

The first Tamiya I did was the 1986 Celica GTS - at the time, I was driving a 1986 Celica GT.

Cool read. I recognize and still have most of those! I distinctly remember heavy usage of that W124 with the mismatched doors, the big grey limo and that woody with the rubber tires (refered to as "real riders" iirc by Hotwheels collectors). The hotwheels/majorette/matchbox cars I moved home from my parents house a couple months ago...Filled rear of a Suburban! Now they're neatly stored in my basement, hopefully my future children will have some interest and I can pass them down.

 8) Didn't know this thread existed until now.  I just recently discovered a local corner store now under new ownership and is now a science/corner store.  They have a good stock of Tamiya models and supplies in store.  They are expensive though.  Almost $300 (?) for the big aircraft carrier models.  It's been years since I've built a model so will probably pick up one for my wife and I to build together.  We enjoy putting puzzles together while listening to music in the winter time so attempting a model will be a nice break from that.  ;D

Well, I credit this thread to helping motivate me to gather up some of the models from my parents place and bring them home. Most of my collection reside in their original boxes in the parents basement, but these dozen or so were in display cases in my old bedroom, so they are the ones I took. The others will have to wait until I can either (a) finish my basement or (b) move to a bigger house, lol.

I took some quick pics...I used to have them displayed on a dark wood unit and the white cars really popped. Now on this POS oak (? fake oak?) bookcase the white kinda washes out.
Overall the display looks cluttered, but new office furniture is low on my priority list right now, so that's how it's gunna be.

Loaded up in the Canyon...Only had to drive a few very slow blocks:

Two of my favorites, I forget the make (Kiosho maybe?) but the TR-3 is very detailed with real carpeting and leather seats. My Candian Tire banks are visible too...they hand them out in the office every year:

That TR3 is very nice. The MG TC is a good looker too. That 3rd generation is neat - I remember when I had my '78 being frustrated that no one made a 2nd generation Camaro scale model.

Now that I think about it, I don't really recall ever seeing a late 2nd gen Camaro in 1:18th scale. I do have a 70(ish) red and white Baldwin Motion Camaro and a 79 or 80 Trans Am.
I'd love to find a 2nd generation S10 or Sonoma in 1:18 scale...but I don't think that's going to happen

Awesome!  During a recent visit to Value Village (don't laugh -- Versace tie for $5,99 anyone?), I found this little treasure in a ziploc baggie of 4-5 other vehicles.  Paid $1.99 for the lot, opened the baggie, extracted the car, handed the rest back to the cashier and asked her to resell them.

Voilŕ la Citroën CX from Majorette that I always wanted as a kid, but somehow never acquired...

Mattel Brazilian collection : Matchbox VW Saviero Cross P/U; 1974 Brazilian Dodge Charger, VW SP2, and VW Brasilia all from Hot Wheels.

I love that they are making a few truly exotic cars.

First such odd model I ever encountered from a maInstream toymaker was the Škoda 130LR back in 1989 when I was 18/19 years old living as an exchange student in Aachen, West Germany.
