The batteries in my keyfobs seem to only last 6 months what's up with that?

Your cat (if you have one) is playing with the buttons.

If you don't have a cat, then it could be that you are doing the key fob equivalent of "pocket dialling".

Personally, I like the cat explanation better.  Sounds like perfect fodder for the internet.  ;)

Strongly considering buying a detached house across the street.  They have 3 bedrooms.  Ours only has a 2+1(in the basement).  Will really miss the upgrades I have done over the past 3 years.  The covered deck, the 3 piece bathroom in the basement, A/C & furnace, premium laminate upstairs & main floor, ceramic tile in the kitchen/foyer/main floor bath, added a dishwasher and pantry, changed arched window in 2nd bedroom, new vanity in main floor bath, and ensuite bath.

The two major things left were the kitchen, and the windows.  The house we are considering, all the have done in 5 years of ownership is the A/C & furnace, and a basic deck.

So I have a case of bittersweet.

Ha Ha, easy to say.  Not your money, your time, or sweat.  It's also difficult timing, wife is on mat leave, I am student/stay at home dad/self employed with less than 2 years of reported income.  So we are just using her income.  So yes we qualify, but are put into a higher risk category, compared to now.

Hard work and risk = rewards  :) Always a hard call. Okaville and Burlington are a safe bet IMO.

Whew!

I cleared the last known hurdle between me and prostate surgery.

Before operating, I've required a significant number of imaging tests to make sure the cancer hasn't spread. I've had ultrasounds, x-rays, a head-to-toe bone scan and, two weeks ago, a CT scan.

Just got all the results and I'm good to go!

"...Biliary tree and galbladder are normal. Spleen, pancreas and adrenals are normal. Kidneys are normal. No enlarged pelvis lymph node. No free fluid seen in pelvis. No pathologically enlarged iliac chain lymph node." And it says my "Lungs are unremarkable" which is a bit of an insult to my lungs but I won't complain ;).

The last word will come from pathology results from lymph nodes removed during surgery so I'm not out of the woods yet. But there is nothing visible in imaging so far and that's a good sign.

I have a pre-op clinic on August 13. Surgery early September if things go as planned.

Oh man...I just remembered something freaky. On July 28, exactly 27 years ago today, my father died of prostate cancer.
Great news Dex!

Is VW's 2.5 5-cylinder an engine to avoid?  I haven't heard many good things about it.

Not sure it's to be avoided but it's a bit agricultural and not as fuel efficient as it should be for the power output.

It's something I've seen from time to time myself, but Quebec's own website seems to agree with you http://www.premier-ministre.gouv.qc.ca/index-en.asp

Can anybody give me the link for finding a good number for what your car is worth?  I bookmarked on my other computer, but I haven't got around to fixing it yet.  It wasn't Canadian Black Book, it was another one.
