new bike (and really the last to add to my collection for a while) will be arriving soon.

I've also order winter shoes...
MEC doesn't carry winter shoes anymore and I tried to order the top end 45nrth shoes (pictured previously) but they're totally SOLD OUT.   So I had to go with a model lower which won't be as warm but should be good enough.   We'll see.

Fat bike?

Bike's in for a service, will keep riding through the Winter if I can.

Special tires for winter duty?  Do they have picks on them?

I see some local guy with these HUUUGE tires on his mountain bike.  Saw him riding in the snow the other day.

^^ sounds like a fatbike. Tires that big won't fit on a regular mtn bike. I'm sure blotter will provide photos and details shortly. ;)

It looked odd.  But looked like it could be fun.

Nah, I do need better tires than the ones I have though.

Looks like Bike Zone has them.

SOB!   oh well.  I've got the ones on the right coming by week end.   If they're not warm enough I might have to hit up this place.   They seem to have a lot of stock, which is surprising.  Most shops don't stock too many of those because of the price.

Tested the cold weather gear today on a quick one hour ride. This was my first real ride since October 30th and the only part of me protesting was my lungs. The gear was great and I am looking forward to winter riding on the MTB.

you're lungs will actually get used to it.   they should even start to feel better as you ride.

the trick with winter riding is keeping a pace that keeps you warm but isn't too fast in which you'll get too hot.

I'm hoping to get a pair of these (or something similar) soon:

Looks like my hiking shoes are not going to cut it. Went for a 40km MTB ride this morning and my feet got cold.....off to the shop then  :)

Miss the winter cycling. Will have to throw the studded wheels with the Monkeylights back on and go for a ride.

Very cool.  About 500 metres from my house there are some excellent trails.  I see a bunch of riders on those fat tire bikes at night!

Kanata Lakes?

Those trails are fun, but challenging.
