Snowman - it's funny how you start to recognize other riders who frequent the same area and time.  I swear I've come across the same group of 6 or 8 riders heading up 6th line about them same time that I am generally heading south back home on a weekend morning.  Feel free to share any tips on gear selection and pace:)

quad - thanks for the route suggestions - and the caution about the hills.  One of many reasons I like to drive a new route before I ride it.  Also because I am often starting out in the dark (and will be doing that more often and for longer periods as daylight hours shrink), it's safer if I've had a chance to scope out potentially troublesome spots before my first ride.

Its time to hook up for another ride then  :)

Can I come?

Sure, if you don't mind riding with a rolling boat anchor (me, not Snowy  :-[ )

Don't mind how fast/slow people are as long as they try.  Are we going to do Rattlesnake?

:bang: be nice, he is not ready for Rattlesnake.....nor am I for that matter. We will watch and wait. This weekend?

Having DRIVEN Rattlesnake, I can say I wholeheartedly agree.  :o Lots of flats with the odd hill I can handle.  Just.  :-[  With the occasional stop. :-\  Free Sunday all day.  :)  Quad, you may want to do some insane hills for a good 50k THEN swing by Snowy and grab us for an additional 50.

Seriously - Snowy is a lot faster than I am - I was a complete couch potato as recently as April.  I'm loving this thing - just being realistic about where I am at.

wife and I have decided to sell our DJ bikes (dirt jumpers)

we used to only use them in the winter at Joyride.
it's an expensive trip, usually a full tank of gas, 407 bill and entry fee.
plus the potential to hurt ourselves is very high.

We've decided it's not really worth the hassel and since her surgery, she doesn't want something like that to mess up regular biking.

So we've had these bikes on kijiji for a couple weeks and all we get are kids trying to trade crap for them   ::)
offers for aftermarket car wheels, i-phones, bmx bikes.....

You can't be any slower than my wife and I ride with her.  ;)

We can take this offline if you want. Snowman has my email address. Sunday I usually do a group ride here but lets talk and see what can happen.

Sounds like you are doing it for the right reasons. Best of luck getting through all the kijiji junkies.

Longest single ride of the year. 82k that took 3 hours and three minutes.

This is awesome!

And when he does I will shake his hand and buy him a beer. But I get to pick the course  8)

Great job Snowy!  Can't enlarge the map - what was your main route north?  I think I have the rest figured out.  I have my 75k ride coming up in Sept. and still working my way up.

Knock heads with Quad and see if you guys can make Sunday work.  I'm good anytime.  If not, I'm in town for the long weekend.

thanks...  my wife I got an offer for $250 on my bike.  I've got it listed for $500   :banghead:
I think this might take a while.
Hoping to sell so we can use the funds towards fatbikes.

with cross country skis we got last year, our downhill and getting fatbikes... that should have our winters covered.   :D

I don't get Strava. What's the meaning of the red dot with number four on this segment? And that's certainly not a 14% climb, but I suppose I should blame Garmin that. There seems to be some issues with the Garmin's altimeter as I'm pretty sure I wasn't submerged  ;D

Looks more like you were riding in Death Valley.  :rofl2:

The 14% is suppose to be the average grade over the segment but it looks like this one is really messed up for some strange reason.

Today was hill repeats day.

Some day I just know when not to chase somebody. Guy on green Felt starts up the hill just after me but I don't engage....He stands on the pedals, passes and flies up the hill like he is being pushed. Man was he fast. Very glad I didn't engage.

do roadies have a secret competition with each other out there when they run into each other?
