Well, it was kinda his own fault wasn't it ?
I drive a 2004 BMW 645 which is also trigger happy but I found that if I drive it carefully it isn't really as bad as you would expect. As long as I drive it like it's a normal car it behaves like a normal car.

My E 0.02 (approx 0.026 CAD).

I'm also assuming that "Peter" would've gotten a ticket for driving without winter tires since you are in Quebec (assuming his Mustang likely didn't have 4 winter tires on).

Not so sure about the SUV being the one staying on the road. Those were the only vehicles I saw this weekend smashed up on the roads.

It's scenarios like that where I'm one of the few who appreciate how many German cars have that acoustic "Ice Warning" at 3°C. (Of course, if the driver ignores it anyway, that's another story).

It's scenarios like that where I'm one of the few who appreciate how many German cars have that acoustic "Ice Warning" at 3°C. (Of course, if the driver ignores it anyway, that's another story).

My truck says ICE at around "0" degrees on the display....but I still dont know how that would help a numpty driver that numerous drivers couldnt figure out how to drive for the conditions???

and trucks..  and SEMIs..   

it does get quite tricky to get the car going on ice for RWDs, i find.. but once you start going, it's pretty similar to other cars.

Acoustic warning at 3 deg? What does it do at -30?

At -2 the suspension/steering sensor thinks the car will tip over because of oil loss and at -10  the computer crashes on each cold start.
After a couple of minutes driving I have to restart the car and everything works fine.

Luckily I don't know what the car does at -30. I know what I'd do though; move south.

We brought him a nice calming mug of jasmine tea to relax and comfort him. It worked its magic and in about 10 minutes he was ready enough to tell his tale

I think they forget that AWD is there to stop you from getting stuck. Once your moving AWS really doesn't help when you are driving faster then the conditions allow. Then again, they are probably (at least here on the Wet Coast), driving with all seasons.

As for the SUV staying on the road on a off ramp with black ice and exceeding the speed for the conditions, its gonna slide just like the Mustang did.

Why did Peter show up at the law office if no damage occured? If I had a close call I don't think going to my Counsel would be the first thing I would do.

If it took a cup of tea + ten minutes before he could even talk about his 'tale', how was he able to drive to the law office?
