Mazda R100 brochure
« on: February 12, 2012, 12:55:12 pm »
10 full pages.

I bought this Mazda R100 brochure at the local swap meet yesterday from a lady who’d bought one new back in the day.

I scanned it in for everyone's viewing pleasure. Below is the link and you can click on each page for a larger version   8)

You know, I think I prefer that dash to some new cars I can think of!  ;D

Cool car. I agree with the dash, very cool. I saw an RX-4 for sale in California, looks like the Mazda 3 looked to its past or design inspiration except with more plastic.

British cars used have optional heaters in the 50s and 60s. My 808 has no rear belts.

My first girlfriend had one of these. What I liked about it was that it was fitted with gauges rather then idiot lights.

Very cool!  Thanks for scanning and sharing.   I love the shifter placement, my old 2002 Honda Civic SiR may have taken some cues here...

Cool! I just happen to have a December 1969 issue of Popular Mechanics with a review of this very car, and with a Canadian connection. I took a used example for a test drive around '75 or so and it was a hoot. Woulda bought it too if it hadn't been so damned small inside.  :'(

The review makes for an interesting read. Imagine, 0 - 60 mph in 12.2 seconds! That baby's hot!

That review is awesome. Thanks for posting that. Interesting that they praise the fuel economy!

I remember the R100 as a zippy little car, very direct and way more fun to drive than the typical Japanese econobox of the day. A buddy of mine had a Datsun 1200 of similar vintage and it was no contest. The Mazda looked better, drove and handled better and the dashboard and controls were in a totally different class. I liked it a lot and always thought it should've sold better than it did.
