Just as an update I am looking for a CPO 911 so the new model is out. My self imposed ceiling is $70k and at the top of the list is 997.2 4S out of the US.  Looks like I will have to make a good check list as I do more research. Any 996 model without a intermediate shaft bearing retrofit is a disaster waiting to happen.

Just let me know if you need someone to help you pick it up from the USA.  I am not opposed to driving an STI or a S2000  ;)

Thanks man. The S2000 is a wildcard in this. My wife has a new job down town and won't be using it for the summer commute anymore. Depending on what Porsche model I decide on it can be used as a trade in. CPO 911 we keep it, a new Cayman R or Boxster S we trade in.
